The journal
publishes several types of articles distributed in the same number of
sections:
- Editorial
- Original
articles
- Review
articles
- Presentation
of cases
- Brief
communication
- Cuban
Forum of Angiology and Vascular Surgery
- Special
article
- Letter
to the editor
Other
types of articles may be included according to the consideration of the
Editorial Committee without necessarily having to be indexed in databases.
COMMON
METHODOLOGICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL TYPES OF ARTICLES
In the
event that the manuscript is not "unpublished", the authors
will have the obligation to communicate at what time it has been made
public or, instead, where it is available (preprints, ...).
Title:
Special attention should be paid to the elaboration of the title, choosing
with great care all the words and the way to associate them. It cannot
exceed 15 words and must not contain punctuation marks, acronyms or abbreviations.
If names of institutions are used, they must be official and up to date.
It must appear in Spanish and English.
Authors:
The full names and surnames of all authors must appear, as well as their
email address. Avoid initials. Put professional title, scientific degrees,
academic degrees, teaching and / or research categories, and institutional
affiliation, as appropriate. Each author must go separate lines.
Each author
must provide, on a mandatory basis, their ORCID number. (www.orcid.org),
after their name: https://orcid.org/
with the 16 numbers it has. Full name of their institutional affiliation
and email address.
Authors must
provide the primary records used of the data if requested by the editors.
Authors must comply with the ethical standards established for the writing
of articles. The work they want to publish must be original and unpublished,
and the main author should be identified. The order of appearance of the
co-authors must be in correspondence with the degree of participation
they have had in the article to be published. Another article by the main
author who wishes to publish another in the same issue of the journal
will not be accepted simultaneously by the journal, except for an exception
authorized by the editorial board.
AUTHORSHIP CRITERIA
All persons listed as authors must be qualified for this purpose. Each
author must have participated in the work sufficiently to be publicly
responsible for the content.
A person is an author when:
(a) has
made important contributions to the idea and design of the study;
(b) has participated in the collection of data or made significant contributions
to the analysis and interpretation of the data;
c) has participated in the drafting of the article or in the critical
review of its substantial intellectual content, and
(d) approves the final version to be published. All authors must meet
the above four conditions.
Participating
only in the acquisition of funds or in the collection of data does not
justify authorship. The general supervision of the research group is not
sufficient to appear as author.
In relation
to original research articles, the declaration of autor contribution
must be completed compulsorily, based on the Methodology for the implementation
of the CRediT taxonomy to scientific journals of the National Health System,
which is exposed later in section II-ORIGINAL RESEARCH ARTICLES.
Acknowledgement:
Declaration that each of the persons mentioned in this section authorizes
to be mentioned. All those persons, institutions or others who have contributed
in one way or another to the development of the research, who do not meet
the authorship criteria described above and who agree to appear in this
section must appear.
BIBLIOGRAPHIC
REFERENCES
All the authors of the cited text will be listed; if you have 7 or more
authors, the top 6 will be mentioned, followed by "et al."
Journal titles shall be abbreviated by the Index Medicus (List of journals
indexed in Index Medicus). No items will be highlighted with capitalization
or underlining. The ordering of the bibliographic elements and the use
of punctuation marks prescribed by the Vancouver style will be observed.
Mention of personal communications and unpublished documents should be
avoided; they shall only be mentioned in the text in parentheses, if necessary.
This journal adheres to the regulations described in the Recommendations
for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals (Vancouver Style).
http://bvs.sld.cu/revistas/recursos/vancouver_2012.pdf
The Word document formatted for XML-JATS that the journal has in
its structure, implies changes in the way of presenting the bibliographic
references: the account of these references at the end of the document
in question will appear with line spacing 1.5 and numbered manually according
to their order of mention in the text. The footnote in the manuscript
of these references must be made with Arabic numerals in superscript,
in parentheses and without space between the superscript and the punctuation
mark that precedes it. Let's look at two examples:
1. [...]
infections in general and particularly those caused by mycobacteria.
(14,15)
2. [...]
as well as release of inflammatory cytokines.(16,17,18)
It's important:
- To include
only those references consulted directly by the researcher; quotations
of quotations (or second sources) should not be made.
- To consult
the complete documents, avoid quoting abstracts. If for a very justified
reason an abstract is quoted, it must be specified, putting it in square
brackets after the title [resumen] or [abstract], depending on the language
of the reference.
- The documents
quoted must be current (from the last five years), except for historical
reasons.
- To avoid
copy-paste. This procedure involves dragging possible errors and contaminating
the databases.
- Journal
titles should be abbreviated according to the style used by the National
Library of Medicine (NLM). See PubMed's Journals Data Base.
- The URLs
of the bibliographic references must work perfectly and lead directly
to the exact location of the quoted material.
- References
that use website URLs must have the access dates declared.
- They must
be necessary and well bounded (with superscript and after the punctuation
mark).
- The relevant
national and international literature on the subject must be represented.
Figures
and Tables: The figures must be presented in jpg format, in the case
of photographs (300 dpi). Graphics and outlines shall be presented in
an editable format. Tables are not accepted as figures (jpg format).
All must have the appropriate quality and must not exceed 800 pixels in
width.
ETHICAL
CONSIDERATIONS
Submitted researches must comply with all ethical claims for the types
of studies, whether in humans or animals (Declaration of Helsinki) http://bvs.sld.cu/revistas/recursos/helsinki.pdf
The article
must not contain fragments of texts from previously published works or
in the process of publication in journals or other format without proper
quotation.
Any ethical violation related to the document will be resolved using
the protocols established by the International Committee on Ethics in
Scientific Publication (COPE). http://publicationethics.org/files/All_Flowcharts_Spanish_0.pdf
Clinical
trials: Clinical trials must carry their proper registration number
obtained in a Clinical Trials Registry. This number must be verifiable,
so the source will appear. In addition, they must conform to the evaluation
parameters expressed in the CONSORT international guide.
http://bvs.sld.cu/revistas/recursos/CONSORT.pdf
Writing:
The document presented must have clarity and consistency in wording, syntax
and spelling. The meaning of the abbreviations, acronyms and symbols used
will be described. They will be preceded by their full name the first
time they appear in the text. They will not appear in titles or abstracts.
Those for international use shall be used. Their use should not be excessive,
which prevents fluent reading and comprehension of the work.
Manuscripts´
presentation forms: The articles will be presented in electronic format
of WORD text, in Times New Roman 12 font and spaced 1.5. Compressed files
in any format are not allowed.
Copyright:
This journal is available in Open Access without restrictions, which complies
with the international policy on open access to information. The contents
presented here can be used, without commercial purposes, as long as reference
is made to the primary source.
CONFLICT
OF INTERESTS
The authors must declare the presence or not of conflict of interests
in relation to the research presented.
This declaration of conflict of interests will appear in a paragraph after
the bibliographic references.

Author
Contribution Statement
In order to establish a standardization for the mention of the roles
of authorship contribution in the journals of SciELO network, from
the first issue of 2021 all original research articles must be completed
to be published, as well as everything related to the Methodology for
the implementation of the CRediT taxonomy to scientific journals of
the National Health System. The Taxonomy of the roles of the contributor
in Spanish is an advanced tool that provides greater transparency in the
collaboration between authors and allows to clarify the contribution of
each author in the publication. This taxonomy distributes the roles of
participation in 14 typologies through which an author can have recognition
in the publication. Among them we can mention: conceptualization, data
curation, formal analysis, acquisition of funds, administration, projects,
research, methodology, resources, software, supervision, validation, visualization,
writing of the original draft and, finally, the writing (review and editing).
Namely, each role is defined as follows:
- Conceptualization
- Ideas; formulation or evolution of the objectives and general goals
of the research.
- Data
curation - Management activities to annotate (produce metadata),
purge data, and maintain research data (including software code, where
necessary to interpret the data itself) for initial use and subsequent
reuse.
- Formal
analysis - Application of statistical, mathematical, computational
or other formal techniques to analyze or synthesize study data.
- Acquisition
of funds - Acquisition of financial support for the project leading
up to this publication.
- Research
- Conducting a research and research process, specifically conducting
experiments, or collecting data/evidence.
- Methodology
- Development or design of the methodology; model creation.
- Project
administration - Responsibility for management and coordination
of the planning and execution of the research activity.
- Resources
- Supply of study materials, reagents, materials, patients, laboratory
samples, animals, instrumentation, computer resources or other analysis
tools.
- Software
- Programming, software development; software design; implementation
of computer code and supporting algorithms; testing existing code components.
- Supervision
- Responsibility for supervision and leadership in the planning and
execution of research activities, including external mentoring to the
core team.
- Validation
- Verification, either as part of the activity or separately, of the
overall replicability/reproduction of research results/experiments and
other products.
- Display
- Preparation, creation and/or presentation of the published work, specifically
the visualization/presentation of data.
- Drafting
- original draft - Preparation, creation and/or presentation of the
published work, specifically the drafting of the initial draft (including
substantive translation).
- Writing
- review and editing - Preparation, creation and/or presentation of
the work published by the members of the original research group, specifically
critical review, comments or review - including the stages before or
after publication.
This identification
will be made exclusively for the original research articles.
The authorship roles will be identified in the order below, including
each author(s) in the role(s) that corresponds to them, and omitting the
roles that do not proceed in each case.
The journal will name the authorship roles as follows regardless of the
numbering:

VI-FORUM
OF ANGIOLOGY AND VASCULAR SURGERY
Sending an abstract of the clinical and complementary data made of a clinical-surgical
case that is very interesting in this specialty, to be disseminated online
through the Editor of the Forum, Prof. Juan Enrique Yara Sánchez
(angiocuba@yahoo.com), with the aim of promoting a debate on it by specialists
in the national and international levels. Once the debate is concluded,
after the patient has been treated, the main author of the case abstract,
if he/she wants to publish it in the Forum section of the Journal, will
write a final version of the debate of the case by the forum, where the
criteria presented by the specialists in the discussion will appear, with
the results and the definitive conclusions of the case. The lead author
will eventually send it to the journal if wanting to publish it. Only
up to 4 figures that have the requirements established in the instructions
of the journal and no more than 4 authors will be accepted. Its length
will not exceed 5000 words.
VII-SPECIAL
ARTICLE
This category of article corresponds to a document that, due to the importance
of its contribution, the Editorial Committee includes it as such. They
are generally commissioned documents and their length is variable, depending
on the consideration of the Editorial Committee on the depth of the topic.
All must have the home page, although in some cases the abstract may not
be presented. Most have an introduction, although sometimes this word
may not appear and is composed only of text, in many cases with subtitles,
depending on the style of the author. It is desirable that it has the
homepage, introduction, abstract and subtitles.
VIII- LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Documents will be received that express the ideas, positions or disagreements
of the authors in relation to some of the contents published in the journal
or topics of the specialty after evaluation by the Editorial Committee.
Letters that comply with the ethical principles of scientific publication
will be published. The foundations raised must have their corresponding
bibliographic support, according to the rules adopted by the journal.
EVALUATION
SYSTEM
All articles submitted by the journal's online management system will
undergo an open "peer" evaluation process. This process of arbitration
practices will begin to be used appropriately as a mechanism to promote
transparency in the editorial and scientific communication process.
The final evaluation period of the article shall not take more than 60
days. Within this period the authors will be informed about the editorial
decision.
If for any reason the author does not wish to publish the article, he/she
must communicate it in writing to the management of the journal in order
to avoid an ethical conflict.
USEFUL
TIPS FOR WRITING PAPERS
- Write
concisely and clearly.
- Use the
impersonal style.
- Avoid,
whenever possible, the use of the passive voice.
- Take care
of the use of the capital letter, as well as the concordance in gender
and number.
- Limit
the use of participles and gerunds to the necessary cases.
- Avoid
long sentences and excessive subordinations, and use convenient punctuation
marks to separate statements.
- Rationally
use the means to highlight important texts or elements.
The above
recommendations are based on the study of the most frequent errors incurred
by the authors of the works submitted to the consideration of the drafting
committees.
All the authors of the cited text will be listed; if it has 7 or more
authors, the top 6 will be mentioned, followed by "et al." Journal
titles shall be abbreviated by the Index Medicus (List of journals indexed
in Index Medicus). No items will be highlighted with capitalization or
underlining. The ordering of the bibliographic elements and the use of
punctuation marks prescribed by the Vancouver style will be observed.
