The Cuban Magazine of Forestry Sciences constitutes a means of scientific dissemination of forestry and related sciences, from the University of Pinar del Río "Hermanos Saíz Montes de Oca", Faculty of Forestry and Agricultural Sciences and the Center for Forestry Studies (CEF). The Cuban Journal of Forest Sciences is aimed at teachers and researchers in various branches of natural sciences, as well as people and institutions interested in forestry activity. Graduate students in the area of knowledge can also contribute to it. The publication language of this magazine is Spanish and the article will appear translated from the original in English; It will also have a title and summary in Portuguese in each article; Its articles are published in HTML, PDF and XML-JATS formats that are easy to access and download. The Cuban Journal of Forest Sciences aims to facilitate scientific communication between researchers and professionals linked to the development of Forest Sciences in Cuba and the world, contribute to the dissemination and promotion of the main results of Cuban science in the forestry area and to dissemination of relevant results of the activity among the scientific community at a national and international level. The publications of La Revista Cubana de Ciencias Forestales correspond to its thematic profile, which includes the main lines of research of the Center for Forestry Studies:
Mission: communicate the results of the investigative work of professionals and technicians in the forestry sector of Cuba and other regions of the world, sharing experiences that contribute to sustainable forestry development. Vision : to be the reference point for research in the area of forestry and related sciences and to achieve visibility and information coverage in forestry activity, and its main advances. This journal uses the LOCKSS system, being included in the Public Knowledge Project Private LOCKSS Network (PKP PN), creating a distributed archive system among collaborating libraries, which allows the creation of permanent archives of the journal for conservation and restoration purposes. Open access policyThe Cuban Journal of Forest Sciences is an open access publication and its principle is to publish research free of charge to the entire educational community, promoting greater exchange of global scientific knowledge. Which means that all its content can be freely accessed at no cost to the user or their institution. Users can read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full texts of Cfores articles because everything is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License . This journal does not charge for carrying out the editorial process for manuscripts received (Non-APC). The source of financing is the University of Pinar del Río "Hermanos Saíz Montes de Oca". With this, it participates in the initiatives in favor of open access to scientific information promoted by the Budapest Declaration ( Budapest Open Access Initiative, 2002 ) and Berlin Declaration (Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities, 2003 ). ascribing to the Open Access paradigm, defined in international declarations as "free access through the Internet to scientific literature, respecting existing copyright laws." Use of Data Servers Data servers play a crucial role in scientific journals by providing a reliable platform for storing and sharing datasets related to published research. Their importance lies in the fact that they promote transparency and reproducibility of studies, allowing other researchers to verify and use the data in future work. Furthermore, these servers promote scientific collaboration by facilitating global access to key information. Centralizing data also optimizes resources and avoids duplication of efforts, strengthening the integrity and efficiency of the scientific process.
This journal promotes the use of the following data servers: https://data.scielo.org Preprint Servers Preprint servers are platforms where researchers can share preliminary versions of their manuscripts prior to peer review. This allows them to establish precedence, receive feedback, and improve their work before submitting it to an academic journal. Many journals and scientific societies accept the use of preprints and have specific policies regarding them. If you want to delve deeper into this topic, you can explore resources such as [SciELO], which offer detailed information on the advantages, challenges, and best practices related to preprints. https://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo

All article proposals submitted to the journal Revista Cubana de Ciencias Forestales are subjected to an initial review to ensure that they comply with the journal's publication standards. In this first review, the following aspects are taken into account:
Failure to satisfy any of these elements will lead to a decision to reject the submission. Authors will be notified of the reason for rejection and are invited to make a new submission when the recommendations have been addressed. If the preliminary assessment is satisfied, submissions are sent to two content experts, depending on the subject matter, who evaluate them using the Open Peer Review method, in line with the philosophy of the Open Science movement. According to this philosophy, during the review process both authors and reviewers know each other's identities ("open identities") which allows interaction between them. The reviewers have a period of 3 to 4 weeks to send the editor their comments and recommendation (accept submission, publishable with modifications, resubmit for review, not publishable). In the event that the decision of the two referees is divided, a third referee will be asked to evaluate the paper in order to reach a consensus on the editorial decision. Subsequently, the editor will notify the authors of the decision and the reviewers' comments. If modifications are required, the author will have a period of time to make them and send a new version, which will be reviewed by the editor to corroborate that the reviewers' observations have been taken into account; if necessary, the new version sent will be submitted for a second round of evaluation. Once the review process has been completed and the manuscript has been accepted for publication, the authors will be informed of this decision. An editing/production process of the article will then begin, which may require the intervention of the authors. Authors will be able to consult the status of their manuscript via the OJS platform throughout the editorial process. |
Form and preparation of manuscripts
The article submission process will be conducted exclusively online through the OJS platform of the Cuban Journal of Forestry Sciences, published on the intranet and internet. The author must complete all requested metadata to obtain the required information about the authors and the manuscript. The editorial team of this journal estimates the time between five (5) and six (6) months for the manuscript evaluation and publication process. To submit a manuscript electronically, please consult and follow the instructions available in the Uniform Requirements for Manuscript Submissions to CFORES. The submitted manuscript is original and has not been previously published nor is it being evaluated for publication in another journal. A letter of originality will be attached as a supplementary file to the submission (step 4). The Cuban Journal of Forestry Sciences provides free and immediate access to its contents. The contents may be copied and distributed by any means, provided that the authors are acknowledged, the works are not used for commercial purposes, and the contents are not modified without prior authorization. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) developed the ISO 690:2010 standard, Information and documentation - Guidelines for bibliographic references and citations to information resources. It was translated into Spanish as UNE-ISO 690 Information and documentation. Guidelines for writing bibliographic references and citations to information resources, in May 2013 by the Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification (AENOR). ISO-UNE 690:2013 accepts three in-text citation methods. Choosing one of them changes where the publication date should be noted. Name and date system (Harvard) |
