Peer Review
Process
The articles
submitted are subjected to a double-blind peer review process where neither
the reviewer nor the author have any data that allows them to identify
themselves. The author is informed of the decision of the Editorial Committee
once the evaluation period has concluded.
The final
decision on the publication of the manuscript corresponds to the Editorial
Committee, regardless of the decision of the arbitrators.
Review
process
Once the
manuscript is registered, it goes to the review or arbitration process,
in which the following is taken into account:
- The Editorial
Committee will be responsible of the arbitration group or the reviewers.
- Arbitrators
will conform to the arbitration regulations adopted by the journal,
grounded on the arbitration guide.
- Two specialized
arbitrators will be appointed, according to the subject that the manuscript
deals with.
- The double-blind
review will be carried out.
- If the
arbitrators do not agree on their criteria, a third party will be appointed.
- A form
will be used where the criteria and arguments of the arbitration are
registered. This constitutes the arbitration guide.
- The manuscript
must be evaluated and its results recorded in the space reserved for
that purpose within 60 days.
Once the
result of the review has been received, the arbitrators´ s suggestions
will be reconciled.
The Editorial
Committee will take the corresponding decision.
The corresponding
author will be informed by email of the results of the review, which may
be:
- Accept
submission. In this case, manuscripts go to the editing and publishing
process
- Publishable
with modifications. In this case, authors will have 30 days to to prepare
a new version, taking into account the recommendations of the review
process and register it with the same ID.
- Once registered,
manuscripts will go through the review process again. If after 30 days
the corrected papers are not received, the Editorial Committee can make
the decision to extend the date for another 30 days, or archive them.
This decision will always be informed to the corresponding authors by
email. If the articles are archived and the authors still desire to
publish in the journal, they must register the papers as new manuscripts
and notify the editor in the space corresponding to the first step of
the registration, explaining that it is a second version of the paper
whose title is recorded.
- Re-evaluable.
In this case, the main author is notified by email of the review considerations
and that the manuscript will be archived. It will be clarified that
if they still want to publish the paper in the journal, they must register
it as a new submission, commenting to the editor in the corresponding
space of the first step of the registration, that it is due to a new
version of the work whose title is consigned.
- Not publishable.
When the work does not meet formatting requirements, its content does
not belong to the scope of the journal or the subject is not of interest.
It is recommended to look for another journal related to such topic.
Open access
policy
This journal
provides immediate free access to its content under the principle that
making research results freely available to the public supports a greater
global knowledge exchange.
Those authors
who have publications in this journal, accept the following terms:
- Authors
will retain their copyright and guarantee the journal the right of first
publication of their work, which will be simultaneously subject to the
Creative Commons Attribution License, which allows third parties to
share the work, provided that they indicate the author and first publication
in this journal.
- Authors
may adopt other non-exclusive license agreements for the distribution
of the version of the published work (eg: deposit it in an institutional
thematic archive or publish it in a monographic volume), provided that
the initial publication in this journal is indicated.
- Authors
are allowed and recommended to disseminate their work through the internet
(eg: in institutional thematic files or on their website) before and
during the submission process, which can produce interesting exchanges
and increase citations of the published work. (See The Effect Of Open
Access)
Archives
This journal uses LOCKSS system to create an archive distributed among
participating libraries, which allows these libraries to create permanent
archives of the journal for preservation and restoration purposes.
How and
where to submit the manuscripts?
Manuscripts will be registered in the online journal management system,
Open Journal System (OJS). For doing so, you must register as an author
on the Journal's site: http://ems.sld.cu and follow the instructions.
Once the manuscript is registered, you will be able to monitor its editorial
process by identifying yourself with your username and password on the
journal's website.
The submission of manuscripts, processing and publication does not offer
any cost to authors; it is totally free.
Editorial
process at OJS
- Reception
of manuscripts. OJS will acknowledge receipt via e-mail, once the manuscript
is successfully registered.
- Review
process. Once the manuscript is registered, it goes to the review or
arbitration process, in accordance with the established policy and guidelines.
- Editing
process. Manuscripts that were approved for publication in the review
process will go through this process. The editor in charge of this process
can still contact the authors to specify details of the content or other
aspects that are required for publication in the journal.
Guidelines for authors
The Cuban Journal of Higher Medical Education is the official and scientific
publication of the Cuban Society of Educators in Health Sciences. Its
mission is to contribute to the development of this science through the
selection, evaluation and publication of scientific articles of proven
quality, novelty and relevance.
This magazine was created within the framework of the First National Conference
on Higher Medical Education held in 1986. Its first issue appeared in
1987. Its initial Editorial Board was formed by Prof. Dr. Juan Vela Valdés
as Director and Dr. Francisco Rojas Ochoa as Secretary. It began to be
published electronically from Vol. 9 in 1995, with Professor Dr. Juan
Carrizo Estévez as Director of this journal and Professor Lic.
Francisco Morales Calatayud as Secretary in 1997.
The Editorial Board is renewed in the new millennium. This publication
exhibits extensive experience and expertise in topics related to higher
medical education, hence contributions and collaborations are appreciated
to disseminate the best of these sciences.
The editorial board is involved in maintaining the visibility of the journal
and guaranteeing the quality of the articles published, so it will be
necessary for the authors to comply with the guidelines on time, the novelty
of the results and their contribution to medical education will be taken
into consideration.
Ethical
considerations
Submitted researches must comply with all ethical statements for the types
of studies, whether in humans or animals. (Declaration of Helsinki) http://bvs.sld.cu/revistas/recursos/helsinki.pdf
The article must not contain fragments from works previously published
or in the process of being published in publications or other media, without
proper citation.
Any ethical violation related to the document will be resolved through
the protocols established by the International Committee for Ethics in
Scientific Publication (COPE) (http://publicationethics.org/files/All_Flowcharts_Spanish_0.pdf).
Abbreviations
and acronyms
They will not be used in the abstract or the title.
Their full name will precede them the first time they appear in the text.
Those for international use will be used.
International System of Units (SI). All clinical laboratory results will
be reported in or permitted by SI units. If you want to add the traditional
units, they will be written in parentheses. Example: blood glucose: 5.55
mmol / L (100 mg / 100 mL).
