All article proposals submitted to the journal Mendive. Journal on Education are subjected to an initial review to ensure that they comply with the journal's publication standards. In this first review, the following aspects are taken into account:
Failure to satisfy any of these elements will lead to a decision to reject the submission. Authors will be notified of the reason for rejection and are invited to make a new submission when the recommendations have been addressed. If the preliminary assessment is satisfied, submissions are sent to two content experts, depending on the subject matter, who evaluate them using the Open Peer Review method, in line with the philosophy of the Open Science movement. According to this philosophy, during the review process both authors and reviewers know each other's identities ("open identities") which allows interaction between them. The reviewers have a period of 3 to 4 weeks to send the editor their comments and recommendation (accept submission, publishable with modifications, resubmit for review, not publishable). In the event that the decision of the two referees is divided, a third referee will be asked to evaluate the paper in order to reach a consensus on the editorial decision. Subsequently, the editor will notify the authors of the decision and the reviewers' comments. If modifications are required, the author will have a period of time to make them and send a new version, which will be reviewed by the editor to corroborate that the reviewers' observations have been taken into account; if necessary, the new version sent will be submitted for a second round of evaluation. Once the review process has been completed and the manuscript has been accepted for publication, the authors will be informed of this decision. An editing/production process of the article will then begin, which may require the intervention of the authors. Authors will be able to consult the status of their manuscript via the OJS platform throughout the editorial process. |
Mendive. Journal on Education is an open access publication and its principle is to publish research free of charge to the entire scientific community, fostering a greater exchange of global scientific knowledge. This means that all its contents can be freely accessed at no cost to the user or his/her institution. Users can read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full text of the articles in this journal because everything is published under a Creative Commons License Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International. This journal does not charge for executing the editorial process to the manuscripts received (No APC). The source of financing is the University of Pinar del Río "Hermanos Saíz Montes de Oca". With this, it participates in the initiatives in favor of open access to scientific information promoted by the Budapest Declaration (Budapest Open Access Initiative, 2002) and Berlin Declaration (Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities, 2003) ascribing to the Open Access paradigm, defined in the international declarations as "free access through internet to scientific literature, respecting the existing copyright laws". Use of data servers Data servers play a crucial role in scientific journals by providing a reliable platform for storing and sharing data sets related to published research. Their importance lies in the fact that they promote transparency and reproducibility of studies, allowing other researchers to verify and use the data in future work. In addition, these servers promote scientific collaboration by facilitating access to key information globally. By centralizing data, they also optimize resources and avoid duplication of effort, strengthening the integrity and efficiency of the scientific process. The use of data servers in scientific journals has become essential in modern research. These servers provide a platform for storing, sharing and accessing datasets relevant to published research. This journal recommends the use of the following data server: https://data.scielo.org Use of preprint servers Preprint servers are platforms where researchers can share draft versions of their manuscripts prior to peer review. This allows to establish precedence, receive comments and improve the work before submitting it to an academic journal. Many journals and scientific societies accept the use of preprints and have specific policies in this regard. This journal recommends the use of the following preprint server: https://preprints.scielo.org |
