To disseminate the scientific knowledge in the field of ophthalmology through the publication of original and other types of scientific papers as well as articles from other countries and other topics of interest about scientific novelties and hygiene and prevention in general ophthalmology and other ophthalmologic specialties

The submitted articles undergo double-blind peer-review process in which neither the reviewer nor the author is provided with data to identify each other. The author is informed of the decision taken by the Editorial Committee once the peer-review is over.

The author should state any conflict of interest regarding the contents of the paper that is submitted and be responsible for the consequences arising from the non-compliance with this instruction. The journal disclaims any liability for the pieces of information provided by the researchers who are the sole responsible for their veracity.

The author should send a letter of commitment stating that the article has exclusively been submitted to this journal. In the event that the journal publishes an article previously submitted to another journal (duplicate publication), then the editorial committee reserves the right to adopt any measures whatsoever according to the case.

The author is entitled to check the status of the submitted article at any time.

In the event of any infringement of the publication policy of the journal, the editorial committee reserves the right to take any measures whatsoever according to the case.

The original and review articles are given preference over other types of materials. They should have the following structure: Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion. Each of these headings will be highlighted in the body of the paper. Their length should not exceed 30 pages.

These articles should have an abstract written in an impersonal style, which will contain the objectives, the materials and methods used as well as a brief description of the main results and the conclusions. The abstracts should be structured and not longer than 250 words. Three to ten key words will be added to facilitate the paper indexing.

The introduction will present the subject and its background. The objectives of the study along with the justification for conducting it will be set forth. Neither data nor conclusions from the paper will be included.

The section method will deal with the materials, the inclusion and exclusion criteria for the studied entities, the essential composition and characteristics of the samples as well as the procedures, statistical techniques (type of sampling, test, etc), and quality control techniques. In this regard, an essential principle should be considered: an expert with similar knowledge to that of the author should be able to reproduce the conducted study without using any other information different from that provided by the author on how the study was conducted and the original data used. If well-known methods are used, the references of papers where they are thoroughly explained will be offered, but a brief description should be added in case of less known procedures. Should the methods be unknown, full information about them in addition to the reasons, advantages and disadvantages of their use will be expounded. The adequate computer software for data processing should be specified.

The results will be presented in logical sequence, in which the necessary statistics and graphs to convey the most important information found in line with the objectives of the paper will appear. The data in tables and figures will not be repeated in the text. The graphs will be an alternative to tables, but the information should not be duplicated in both. The use of either of them responds to its capability to facilitate the understanding of information by the readers and to the economy of the journal. Claims on the intellectual property of the presented contents as well as reference to uncompleted papers should be avoided.

The section discussion will address the novel aspects of the research work. The conclusions in accordance with the objectives of the paper will be expounded. The significance of the results and their limitation as compared to other similar research will be explained. The aspects included in the introduction and in the results will not be repeated. Unjustified conclusions or extrapolations of the used data should be avoided.

The references will follow the recommended Vancouver style and will be numerically listed at the end of the paper in the order that they appear in the text.
