The journal is published in two formats: printed ISSN 0258-6010, since 1985; and electronic ISSN 2224-7920, since 2011.

Starting in Volume 23, 2013, the journal became bilingual, with the publication of all its contents in English.

The Journal is refereed by double-blind peer reviewers. The referees are top-level national specialists at universities, research centers, and industries; as well as from countries like Brazil, Canada, Ecuador, Scotland, Mexico, and Venezuela.

The journal covers the following topics:

" Genetics and reproduction.

" Economy and livestock mechanization.

" Aquaculture.

" Biotechnology

Your submission papertitle must be short (not more than 15 words), and informative. Abbreviations or Acronyms should be excluded from the title. Avoid negative statements.

The papers submitted will be written and edited in Microsoft Word, Arial 12pt font, double spaced (2.5 cm), letter (81/2 x 11) page. The extension of papers will be limited to 20 pages, including tables, figures and references.

Abstract

The abstract section will be a single paragraph (block) of up to 250 words, written in past tense. The research problem and goals must be stated clearly. The materials and methods used in the research will be clearly communicated. The statistical techniques will also be stated, with the estimated parameters achieved, and their significance and accuracy, according to the hypothesis. Reference should be made to the most important goals, and emphasis should be placed on the findings (remark on novel aspects). References or concluding information not included in the main text, should not be added.

Key words: maximum of five key words (alphabetically arranged, and separated by a coma). They will not be part of the title; only international database words must be used.

Introduction

It should include state-of-the art of the particular area of research, specifying its necessity. The paper´s goal will be included as well. Seventypercent (70%) of the references must be 10 years old maximum. The other 30% could be from relevant papers published before the previous 10-year limit. Most of the introduction will be written in present tense, because it will mainly refer to the problem and the accepted knowledge in a particular field at the time the study was initiated.

Materials and methods

Abundant data must be provided so the research can be reproduced. The experimental design and types of analysis will be clearly stated. Moreover, non-traditional statistical models will be described. A detailed description of the variable system will be made, based on the measure units and scales, in the exact same way they were included in the models presented. The database structure or design matrix used will be described as well. Statistical analysis (including simple types) must always be made using an approved professional statistics package in the latest versions. The objectives of each statistical analysis technique used must be clearly stated. This section will be written in past tense, mostly.

Results and discussion

This section must respond to the goals set. It will also disclose the theoretical consequences and possible practical applications of the study. Additionally, coincidences or differences of results and interpretations, based on previously published papers must be shown.

Conclusions

The accomplishment of goals set will be explained by the results of the study. Deductions are presented solidly, in terms of advantages, limitations and possible applications.

The references within the text and the list at the end of the article will use APA Fifth Edition.

FIGURES AND TABLES

All the figures and tables must be cited in the text as Table and Fig., respectively; they must be listed by order of appearance, in Arabic numerals. Abbreviations or symbols must be explained as table footnotes. The titles will be placed on top of the tables, and under the figures.

3D graphs or pie charts will not be accepted.

If one or several measurements need to be presented, the must be included in the main text. Reiterated measurements will be presented in tables or figures.
