Use and importance of monographs

La monografía, es un texto académico producto de una investigación documental, que se utiliza en el ámbito educativo con la finalidad de dar cuenta sobre el estado de conocimiento de una temática específica. Resulta imprescindible su aplicación por parte de la comunidad estudiantil en cualquiera de sus modalidades, ya que permite el manejo de los métodos generales de la ciencia (análisis y síntesis) enfocado hacia una problemática de interés para el investigador. Sin embargo, es muy común encontrar ciertas ambigüedades en la metodología y elaboración de una monografía en sujetos escolarizados. Por ello, los objetivos del presente trabajo fue conocer y caracterizar el uso e importancia de la monografía, y ofrecer una visión sistemática sobre el trabajo monográfico, basado en diferentes fuentes científicas relacionadas con la temática en cuestión. Conforme a lo anterior se concluye, que la monografía es un texto divulgativo que sustenta teóricamente una investigación científica, que explica los antecedentes, conocimientos y avances que el autor posee sobre la temática.

A monograph is an academic text resulting from document research and used in education to provide information about the current status of a specific subject as far as knowledge about it is concerned. The various types of monographs are indispensable tools in student training, for they constitute an opportunity to come into contact with the general methods of science (analysis and synthesis) as applied to a subject of interest to the researcher. However, it is very common to find ambiguities in the methodology and development of monographs about school topics. The purposes of the present study are therefore to become acquainted with and characterize the use and importance of monographs, and offer a systematic view of monographic work, based on various scientific sources related to the topic. It is concluded that monographs are texts based on theoretical scientific research whose purpose is to disseminate information about the antecedents, current state and progress achieved in the field being approached.

Current status of research in the Venezuelan education system

El ensayo reflexivo tuvo como propósito, reconstruir y analizar, la situación actual del proceso de investigación científica en el contexto educativo-venezolano. Se ofreció una realidad crítica sobre la aprehensión y comprensión en cuanto a investigación se refiere y los distintos factores que han influido de manera importante en su orientación, así como, la problemática inmersa dentro de la misma, basado en un análisis documental de trabajos científicos venezolanos y libros publicados respecto al tema; parte desde la ciencia, hasta el escenario investigativo de Venezuela. Se concluyó, que se debe concientizar e internalizar la importancia de estimular la formación de investigadores en el subsistema de educación secundaria y universidades, comprometidos con la sociedad.

The present reflection assay is aimed at reconstructing and analyzing the current status of scientific research in the Venezuelan educational context. A critical view is presented of the process of knowledge acquisition and understanding in the framework of research, the various factors influencing its orientation, and the problems affecting its development, based on document analysis of Venezuelan scientific studies and books on the subject, ranging from science in general to research conducted in the country. It is concluded that sensitization actions should be performed aimed to raise awareness of the importance of encouraging the training of researchers committed to society as part of secondary and university education.
