Medicina basada en la evidencia: un nuevo reto al profesional de la información en salud

Determinación de los usuarios potenciales del Centro Nacional de Información de Ciencias Médicas

Se identificó, segmentó y jerarquizó el universo de usuarios potenciales del Centro Nacional de Información de Ciencias Médicas, según la misión y los objetivos estratégicos del Sistema Nacional de Salud. La gran complejidad y el volumen de usuarios requirió de la caracterización de las diferentes entidades del centro y de los servicios que brinda, así como de la descripción de las entidades y de los grupos que conforman la estructura del entorno usuario. Se siguió la "metodología para el estudio de las necesidades de formación e información", que se estudia en la Licenciatura en Bibliotecología y Ciencias de la Información en la Universidad de La Habana. Se presentó el procedimiento empleado para elaborar el "registro de usuarios potenciales", para su división en categorías o segmentos y su ordenamiento por niveles de prioridad, así como las fuentes documentales y las no documentales utilizadas

Determination of the potential users of the National Center for Medical Sciences Information The number of potential users of the National Center of Information on Medical Sciences was identified, segmented and arranged hierarchically according to the mission and strategic objectives of the National Health System. The high complexity and volume of the users required the characterization of the different entities of the center and of the services they render, as well as the description of the entities and groups that are part of the structrure of the user?s setting. The "methodology for studying the needs of training and information? that is studied in the careers of Library Science and Information Science at Havana University, was followed. The procedure used to make the "register of potential users?, its division into categories or segments, its arrangement by levels of priority, as well as the documentary and non-documentary sources utilized were presented

Desarrollo de la creatividad en la formación de los profesionales

Antecedentes: Cada vez con mayor frecuencia, la literatura especializada refleja la demanda social, existente a escala mundial, de profesionales con un mayor desarrollo de sus capacidades en materia de creatividad, comunicación, motivación, trabajo grupal, liderazgo, dirección, entre otras, razón por la cual, desde la década de los 80 se ha incrementado el número de entrenamientos sociopsicológicos que se ofrecen como una modalidad de superación profesional. Objetivos: Exponer, en apretada síntesis, una representación general del concepto de "entrenamiento sociopsicológico", así como presentar los resultados de su aplicación en varias empresas del SIME. Resultados: Se confirma que el entrenamiento sociopsicológico de creatividad desarrolla la aptitud creadora de sus participantes, incrementa la resistencia al cierre y la originalidad de los involucrados. Conclusiones: El desarrollo alcanzado en la creatividad mediante el entrenamiento se transfiere a la solución de problemas reales de las empresas

The development of creativity in the training of professionals Background: The specialized literature increasingly reflects the social demand existing at the world level of professionals with a higher development of their abilities as regards creativity, communication, motivation, group work, leadership and management, among others. For this reason, the number of sociopsychological trainings conducted as a modality of professional self-improvement has been increased since the 1980s. Objectives: To make a general synthesis of the concept of "sociopsychological training" as well as to show the results of its application in several enterprises of the Ministry of the Iron and Steel Industry (SIME, in Spanish). Results: It was confirmed that the sociopsychological training on creativity develops the creative attitude of its participants, increase the resistance to the closedown and the originality of those taking part in the training course

Indicadores estadísticos en la evaluación de las bibliotecas médicas

Se analizó el funcionamiento de la biblioteca médica del Hospital Ginecoobstétrico "Ramón González Coro" durante dos años de servicio, por medio de indicadores de eficiencia. El estudio se dividió en cuatro semestres. Se calcularon los valores de los diferentes indicadores de utilización, productividad y económicos seleccionados. Se determinaron los avances alcanzados por la biblioteca durante el tiempo transcurrido a partir de su reapertura. No obstante, se puso de manifiesto la falta de correspondencia entre los resultados obtenidos y los requerimientos de un centro de referencia nacional. Se evidenció la necesidad de trabajar en su perfeccionamiento. Se mostró la importancia del uso de los indicadores estadísticos de diferentes tipos para controlar y evaluar el funcionamiento de las instituciones de información

The work carried out by the medical library of the "Ramón González Coro" gynecoobstetric hospital during two years was analized by means of indicators of efficiency. The study was divided into four semesters. The values of the different selected economic indicators and of the indicators of utilization and productivity were calculated. The results can be observed in tables showing the advances achieved by the library two years after its reopening. However, the non-correspondance of the results obtained with the requirements of a national reference center and the need to work in order to improve them were stressed. The importance of the use of indicators of efficiency to control and evaluate the work of the libraries and information centers was also underlined

Ciencia y tecnología en la sociedad: Perspectiva histórico-conceptual

Se sabe que la ciencia y la tecnología se han convertido en ramas de la actividad inseparables de la vida y el progreso de la sociedad desde hace varias décadas. Ambos conceptos están hoy tan interrelacionados que han llegado a considerarse como uno solo. El estudio de sus orígenes revela, sin embargo, diferencias notables. Con el fin de formalizar de manera pragmática ambos conceptos y delimitar sus esferas de acción, se exponen sus definiciones, características e interdependencias. Tanto la ciencia como la tecnología justifican su existencia en la búsqueda y el desarrollo de productos, servicios, medios, herramientas y otras entidades, capaces de satisfacer las necesidades humanas y de la vida en general.

Science and technology have become an activity inseparable from life and from the progress of society for some decades. Both concepts are so closely interrelated that have been considered as one, but the study of their origins reveals remarkable differences. Their definitions, characteristics and interdependence are approached aimed at formalizing both concepts pragmatically and at delimitating their spheres of action. Both, science and technology justify their existence in the search and development of products, services, means, tools and other entities that are able to meet the human needs and those of life in general.

Estado actual de los recursos españoles sobre ciencias de la salud en Internet

Apuntes para la historia del Centro Nacional de Información de Ciencias Médicas de la República de Cuba

El V Congreso Regional en Ciencias de la Salud, la III Reunión de Coordinación de la Biblioteca Virtual de Salud y la VIII Reunión del Sistema Latinoamericano y del Caribe de Información en Ciencias de la Salud, que tendrán lugar en La Habana del 23 al 27 de abril del 2001, constituyen un marco propicio para dar a conocer, en apretada síntesis, la labor del Centro Nacional de Información de Ciencias Médicas de la República de Cuba en sus primeros 35 años; y para consignar el merecido reconocimiento a varias generaciones de trabajadores que han hecho posible la consecución de sus logros. Estos apuntes históricos se han preparado precisamente a partir de los testimonios de algunos protagonistas de estas conquistas, así como de la bibliografía relevante sobre el tema. Con el presente ensayo se aspira además a que la actual generación de profesionales, técnicos y demás trabajadores de la información en salud, se inspiren en el ejemplo de los que le antecedieron al cumplir la tarea que hoy día les corresponde, de hacer más visible el bien ganado prestigio de este bastión del Sistema Nacional de Salud.

Notes for the history of the National Center of Information on Medical Sciences of the Republic of Cuba The V Regional Congress of Information on Health Sciences, the III Coordination Meeting of the Virtual Health Library and the VIII Meeting of the Latin American and Caribbean System of Information on Health Sciences will be held in Havana City, April 23-27, 2001. This will be a propitious framework to make known, in a synthesized way, the activity carried out by the National Center of Information on Medical Sciences since it was founded 35 years ago, and to recognize the meritorious work of several generations of workers who have made possible the achievements attained by this Center. These historical notes have been prepared based on the testimonies of some protagonists of these conquests, as well as on the study of the relevant bibliography on this topic. We pretend with this essay that the present generation of professionals, technicians and other workers of the health information field be inspired by the example of those who preceded them and fulfill the task of making more visible the well-gained prestige of this bastion of the National Health System
