Bibliological Informative Literature. Part I: Historical Review

La producción literaria en Cuba en el ámbito bibliológico informativo se ha investigado en diversos trabajos a partir del estudio de las principales publicaciones que la representa o de flujos documentales especializados en el tema. Se investiga, a partir de la mayor muestra compilada hasta el momento de dicha literatura, las diversas etapas por las que ella ha transitado durante todo el siglo XX y se exponen para cada una de ellas, las condiciones sociales, históricas y económicas que han interactuado en la formación y consolidación de esta literatura en Cuba. En esta primera parte, se realiza un estudio histórico de los principales factores que incidieron en la actividad bibliotecaria en Cuba desde sus inicios y que condicionaron la aparición de la literatura que la representa, incluida la formación del profesional y los eventos.

The literary production in Cuba in the environment informative-librarian has investigated in diverse works through the study of the main publications that represents it or of documental flows specialized in the topic. The present work investigates starting from the biggest sample compiled until the moment of this literature, the diverse stages in that it has walked during the whole XX century characterizing for each one of them the social, historical and economic conditions that have participated in the formation and consolidation of this literature in Cuba . In this first part I expose a historical study of the main factors that they impacted in the activity librarian in Cuba from their beginnings and that they are elements in the appearance of this literature.

The dissemination of research and the IMRYD format: a screennig apropos of the critical reading of the scientific articles

Se estudia la importancia del formato IMRYD -Introducción, Métodos, Resultados y Discusión- para la organización del artículo científico entre los investigadores y profesores de mercadeo y organización de empresas. Con vistas a identificar qué aspectos consideran más importantes en esta estructura, se interrogó a 143 catedráticos de las áreas referidas. Una vez informatizados los datos recogidos, se aplicó el modelo de Rasch para determinar los aspectos considerados como los más importantes por el grupo de expertos consultados. Los especialistas consultados señalaron un total de 20 aspectos como los más relevantes para evaluar la calidad de un artículo científico. Finalmente, a partir de lo indicado por los expertos consultados, se conformó una guía para la lectura crítica de los artículos científicos en las áreas del mercadeo y la organización empresarial.

The importance of the format IMRYD -Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion- for the organization of the scientific article among the investigators and professors of marketing and businesses organization is studied. 143 professors of the referred areas were interviewed in order to know which are the aspects considered by them as the most important in this structure. Once the collected data were computerized, Rasch's model was applied to determine the aspects chosen as the most significant by the group of experts consulted. These specialists indicated a total of 20 aspects as the most relevant to evaluate the quality of a scientific article. Finally, from the aspects mentioned by the experts consulted, a guide for the critical reading of the scientific articles in the areas of marketing and business organization was made.

Identification of the general and technical competences for a better library performance: A case study

Se realiza un estudio de desempeño en dos grupos de trabajo de una institución cubana seleccionada con vistas a realizar un diagnóstico de las principales limitaciones que presentan con la finalidad de iniciar cambios paulatinos y emprender procesos de mejora. Se identifican las competencias generales y técnicas que responden a los objetivos estratégicos de los departamentos “A” y “B”. Se confeccionan los mapas por departamentos y se delimitan las brechas existentes. Finalmente, se realiza una propuesta para la mejora de desempeño.

A performance study was conducted in two working groups of a selected Cuban institution aimed at making a diagnosis of the main limitations presented to initiate gradual changes and to implement improvement processes. The technical and general competences that respond to the strategic objectives of the departments "A" and "B" are identified. The maps by departments are prepared and the existing gaps are delimited. Finally, a proposal for the improvement of performance is made.

Theoretical considerations on the information systems, the press information systems and integrated information systems

Se abordan los sistemas de información, sus cualidades esenciales y tendencias desde una perspectiva interdisciplinar. Se estudian los sistemas complejos de información; los sistemas de información de la prensa y para la prensa; así como las implicaciones de la introducción de las nuevas tecnologías de la información y la comunicación para los sistemas de información. A continuación, se tratan los sistemas de información en línea y los sistemas integrados de información.

The information systems, their essential qualities and tendencies are analyzed from an interdisciplinary perspective. The complex information systems are studied, the information systems of the press and for the press, as well as the implications of the introduction of new information and communication technologies for the information systems. are studied. Knowledge gathering: a method to manage the organizational knowledge

Se analizan algunos de los resultados obtenidos con la realización de una investigación sobre la gestión del conocimiento tácito, donde esta se trata desde la perspectiva de la “ Teoría de los modelos del mundo ”. Desde ese ángulo, se define el conocimiento como “modelo significante” y se propone un método grupal de diseminación del conocimiento y sus técnicas. Se señalan los pasos para crear el “Equipo del conocimiento”. Se explica como preparar y realizar la “Reunión del conocimiento”. Se indican algunas técnicas de dinámica de grupo para compartir el conocimiento.

Some of the results obtained on making a research on the management of tacit knowledge are analyzed. It is approached from the perspective of “ The World's Models Theory”. From this angle, the knowledge is defined as a “significant model” and it is proposed a group method for the dissemination of knowledge and its techniques. The steps to be followed to create the “Knowledge Equipment” are stressed. It is explained how to prepare and achieve the “Knowledge gathering”. Some group dynamics techniques are indicated to share knowledge.

The dissemination of creations in the digital era: the Copyleft as a means to distribute creations in the digital era

Se establece la importancia del copyleft para la sociedad actual. Se realiza una valoración crítica del copyright; se exponen los antecedentes del copyleft y se define. Se abordan los principios el software libre, como base del modelo bazar para la creación de programas para computadoras. Se enuncian los valores que promueve el copyleft. Se describen y analizan las licencias existentes, tanto en el mundo tecnológico como en el cultural, desarrolladas a partir del copyleft. Se expone el caso de Cuba como una particularidad. Se propone una clasificación, según la autoría y el contenido de la obra para facilitar el licenciamiento de una creación. Se relaciona el copyleft con la gestión del conocimiento y como se relaciona esta filosofía de trabajo con el mundo mercantil.

The importance of copyleft for the present society is established. A critical analysis of copyright is made, and its antecedents and definition are exposed. The principles of free software, as the basis for the bazaar model for the creation of computer programs are dealt with. The values promoted by the copyleft are enunciated. The licenses existing in the technological and cultural world, which are developed starting from the copyleft, are described and analyzed. The case of Cuba is exposed as a particularity. A classification, according to the author and the content of the work is recommended to facilitate the licensing of a creation. The copyleft is related to knowledge management and it is explained how this working philosophy is connected with the commercial world.

Fermín Peraza Sarausa: bibliographer and Library Science specialist

Se presenta el esbozo de la vida, obra y pensamiento de Fermín Peraza Sarausa, uno de los más eminentes bibliógrafos cubanos y director, por más de un cuarto de siglo, de la Biblioteca Municipal de La Habana. Se destaca su labor como innovador y en la introducción en Cuba de las mejores experiencias de la práctica bibliotecaria de los países de avanzada en este campo. Se analiza su trabajo como editor del “ Anuario Bibliográfico ” y su contribución a la formación de los bibliotecarios en Cuba.

An outline of the life, work and thought of Fermín Peraza Sarausa, one of the most eminent Cuban bibliographers and director of the Municipal Library of Havana for more than 25 years is presented. The role he played as an innovator and in the introduction of the best experiences of the library practice of the avanguard countries in Cuba is stressed. His work as publisher of the " Anuario Bibliográfico " (Bibliographical Yearbook) and his contribution to the training of librarians in Cuba is analysed.

Universal access to information: globalization, culture and literacy

Se aborda la globalización, la cultura y la alfabetización como aspectos importantes para lograr un acceso universal a la información. Con el desarrollo de las nuevas tecnologías de información y comunicación surgieron nuevos soportes para la generación, transmisión y empleo de la información; asimismo, creció aceleradamente su volumen y diversidad. Ahora bien, sin la capacidad de los usuarios para manejar adecuadamente los nuevos instrumentos y recursos puestos a su disposición, es imposible lograr un uso eficiente de dichos recursos y una recuperación de la información para la satisfacción de sus necesidades.

Globalization, culture and literacy are dealt with as important aspects to achieve a universal access to information. With the development of new information and communication technologies, new supports for the generation, transmission and use of information appeared. Likewise, their volume and diversity have grown rapidly. However, without the capacity of the users to manage adequately the new instruments and resources at their disposal, it is impossible to attain an efficient use of such resources and an adequate retrieval of information to meet the user's needs.

Measurement of the information services impact: a need and a challenge

La evaluación de las unidades de información es una necesidad y un reto para su constante perfeccionamiento. La evaluación del impacto de las instituciones de información permite medir los resultados de su trabajo desde el punto de vista social. Se expone un conjunto de aspectos teóricos, relacionados la valoración del impacto en esta clase de instituciones; así como las posibilidades reales de su determinación.

The evaluation of information units is a need and a challenge for its constant improvement. The evaluation of the impact of the information institutions allows the measurement of the results of its work from the social point of view. A series of theoretical aspects related to the assessment of the impact on this type of institution, as well as the real possibilities of its determination, is exposed.

Virtualmed: A learning content management system for the universalization of higher education

La universalización de la enseñanza constituye hoy uno de los mayores retos que afronta la sociedad cubana, la tecnología disponible para desarrollar esta tarea requiere aún de consolidación y mejora. Se presenta un sistema para gestión de contenidos en línea que facilita y perfecciona el proceso docente educativo en la universalización de la enseñanza, con vistas a lograr un mayor aprovechamiento de los recursos tecnológicos disponibles, a partir del empleo de las tecnologías de la informática, las comunicaciones y los ambientes gráficos, accesibles hasta el momento.

The teaching universalization is today one of the greatest challenges for the Cuban society, although the available technology to develop this task still requires more consolidation and improvement. An online content management system that facilitates and enhances the educative process in the universalization of teaching is presented in order to achieve a better use of the available technological resources, starting from the use of informatics, communication and graphic environment technologies, which are accesible so far.

The coauthorship in the Acimed journal in the period 2005-2006: an analysis by graphic interfaces

Las técnicas de representación de la información, como el análisis de coautoría y el escalamiento multidimensional (MDS), permiten obtener una imagen clara del funcionamiento de una realidad particular mediante el análisis de forma gráfica de estas relaciones. Se exponen los resultados de la aplicación de estas técnicas a la publicación seriada Acimed en el período comprendido entre los años 2005 y 2006, con el objetivo de conocer el comportamiento de las relaciones entre los autores y sus instituciones.

The information representation techniques, as well as the analysis of coauthorship and multidimensional scaling (MDS), allow to obtain a clear image of the functioning of a particular reality by means of the graphic analysis of these relations. The results of the application of these techniques to Acimed journal between 2005 and 2006 are exposed aimed at knowing the behavior of the relations between the authors and their institutions.

Holguín portal: A way towards the virtual metaphor

Se expone la evolución del Portal Holguín, como un proyecto de desarrollo Web, durante 5 años. Se valoran algunos elementos que contribuyen al logro de un portal usable, visible y recuperable por los buscadores en Internet. Se resume la remodelación del sitio de la ciencia en la provincia y se aborda el desarrollo del sitio del Centro de Investigaciones y Servicios Ambientales y Tecnológicos de Holguín.

The evolution of the Holguín portal as a Web development project in the last 5 years is analyzed. Some elements contributing to the achievement of a usable, visible and retrievable portal by the Internet search engines are assessed. The remodeling of the science site in the province is summarized and the progress of the site of the Center of Research and Technological and Environmental Services of Holguín is approached.

The information organization in the colonial period: A case s tudy : The Biblioteca de la Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País

Con el objetivo de conocer cómo ocurrían los procesos de organización de la información en la etapa colonial en Cuba, se procedió a examinar las memorias y archivos de la Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País. Se esboza brevemente como sucedían los procesos de selección, procesamiento, almacenamiento y conservación en dicha institución en esta etapa de la historia de Cuba.

In order to know how the information organization processes took place in the colonial period in Cuba, the memoirs and archives of the Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País were examined. The way in which the processes of selection, processing, storage and conservation were managed at this institution in this stage of the history of Cuba is briefly outlined.
