Introducción: el perfeccionamiento de la enseñanza de la Filosofía en las carreras de las ciencias médicas se concretó, en el curso 2010_2011, con la implementación de los programas Filosofía y Sociedad I y II, luego de un minucioso trabajo preparatorio realizado por el Grupo Nacional de Filosofía del MINSAP. Valorar los principales fundamentos y presupuestos presentes en el referido programa es el objetivo del presente trabajo. Métodos: la revisión de documentos del archivo del Departamento de Filosofía y la bibliografía referida al tema. Resultados: se argumenta en el trabajo la necesidad de desarrollar el nuevo programa de Filosofía y Sociedad para las ciencias médicas, como resultado del perfeccionamiento de la docencia en las disciplinas de las ciencias sociales en la enseñanza universitaria cubana. Se resalta el conjunto de presupuestos teóricos, pedagógicos e ideológicos, con un enfoque marxista, clasista y contemporáneo, que sustentan al programa, de modo tal, que lo sitúa a la altura de los retos y las demandas de los tiempos actuales y del perfil del egresado. Conclusiones: la valoración realizada sobre los fundamentos y presupuestos esenciales del programa, contribuye a la imprescindible comprensión del lugar y el papel de la filosofía dentro del plan de estudios de las carreras de las ciencias médicas.

Introduction: the improvement of the teaching of philosophy was carried out in the academic year 2010-2011 in the medical sciences careers, with the implementation of the syllabus of Philosophy and Society I&II, after a careful work done by the Ministry of public Health National Philosophy Group. The objective of this work is to value the principal theoretical basis and foundations of this syllabus. Methods: the review of documents of the Philosophy department files and the referred bibliography about this topic. Outcomes: it's stated in this work the necessity to develop a new syllabus for the Philosophy and Society subject in the medical sciences, as a result of the improvement of teaching in the social sciences disciplines of the Cuban university teaching. It is highlighted a group of theoretical, pedagogical and ideological basis, having a Marxist, classist and contemporary approach which sustain this syllabus in such a way that it is at the level of the challenges and demands of current time and the graduated profile. Conclusions: the valuation made about the principal foundations and basis of this syllabus contributes to the comprehension of the place and role of Philosophy within the study plan of the medical sciences careers.

Some aspects for the History about the teaching of Histology in Cuba. XX century

El triunfo de la revolución incrementó el número de universitarios y extendió la enseñanza de la Medicina hacia todas las provincias. El desarrollo de la enseñanza de la Histología en los diferentes programas y planes de estudios, los profesores más destacados en este quehacer, y los sucesos acontecidos en esta disciplina científica en algunas provincias de Cuba, son referidos en el presente trabajo, acorde con el desarrollo de la Histología en el siglo XX.

The victory of our revolution increased the number of universities and the teaching of medicine is present in all provinces. The evolution of the teaching of Histology in the different medical programs, the most important professors and events involved in this science are mentioned in the present report, according to the development of Histology in the XX century, in some provinces of Cuba.

Methodological guideline for a class in the medical sciences, its distinctive features

Se muestran aspectos imprescindibles de abordar en una orientación metodológica de una clase donde se alude al cumplimiento de los principios didácticos, y su correspondencia respecto a las demandas del currículo y el contexto donde se ejecuta, con énfasis en lo distintivo del proceso docente educativo en las carreras de las ciencias médicas. Se ejemplifica con una conferencia de la asignatura Medicina General Integral del quinto año de la carrera de Medicina. Para ello se realiza un análisis documental del perfil profesional de la carrera, su programa y disciplina perteneciente, reglamentaciones sobre la labor metodológica, y el estudio de información actualizada del tema. Se ponen ejemplos de cómo elaborar este documento y se ofrecen vías para la confección de orientaciones metodológicas con sustento científico pedagógico en el ámbito de las ciencias médicas.

There are shown some remarkable aspects to face the methodological orientation for a class where it is mentioned the fulfillment of the didactic principles and their correspondence with the demands of the curriculum, making emphasis in the distinctive aspects of the teaching-learning process in the medical sciences careers. It is exampled through a lecture of the Integral General Medicine subject I the 5th year of the Medicine career. It was carried out an analysis of documents of the professional profile or the career, its syllabus and corresponding discipline, regulations about the methodological work, taking into consideration the most updated information about the topic. Examples are given about how to elaborate this document, as well as different possibilities are given to elaborate methodological guidelines with a great scientific and pedagogical support for the medical sciences.

A luster of experiences in the formation of university professors who manage information and knowledge

La gestión de la información y el conocimiento son procesos vitales en la gestión universitaria contemporánea. Se exponen los fundamentos que justifican la necesidad de crear una cátedra de Gestión de la información y el conocimiento de la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Villa Clara y la experiencia de su labor formativa en los cinco años transcurridos desde su constitución en el año 2006, en función de que los docentes universitarios se apropien de las concepciones y herramientas fundamentales que proporcionan estas dos disciplinas para mejorar la calidad del proceso docente y su competencia profesional como capital humano de la institución. Los resultados obtenidos confirman lo acertado de tal decisión y llaman la atención en cuanto a consolidar y fortalecer esta actividad profesional en aras de mejorar la calidad del proceso docente universitario.

The information and knowledge management are vital processes of the contemporary university management. The foundations and necessity which justify the creation of a professorship in information and knowledge management in Villa Clara university of Medical Sciences and the experiences in the formative work during the last five years are exposed in this work. It is very important for the university professors to grasp the conceptions and the necessary tools that these two disciplines facilitate to better the quality of the teaching-learning process as well as the professional proficiency of the human resources of the institution. The attained results confirm that it was a correct decision and the importance to consolidate and strengthen this professional activity so as to improve the university teaching-learning process.

The educative software in the teaching-learning process of the History of Cuba discipline

En el estudio diagnóstico realizado por los profesores de la disciplina Historia en la Facultad de Tecnología de la Salud en Villa Clara, se detectaron las necesidades de literatura docente, bibliografía y materiales para facilitar la comprensión de los contenidos que se imparten en la asignatura Historia de Cuba, lo que afecta la calidad del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje. Se utilizaron en la investigación métodos de nivel teórico como el tránsito de lo concreto a lo abstracto, histórico-lógico, sistémico_estructural, inductivo_deductivo, analítico_sintético y la modelación; y del nivel empírico: análisis de documentos, observación, entrevista, encuesta. A partir de sus resultados se elabora un software multimedia educativo, Cubanahis, que sirve como medio de enseñanza para la clase, el estudio independiente y de soporte bibliográfico de la asignatura, además propicia la asequibilidad y comprensión en la asimilación de contenidos con cierto nivel de complejidad, lo que garantiza un aprendizaje desarrollador.

The diagnostic study carried out by the professors of the History of Cuba discipline in the Health Technology Faculty in Villa Clara detected the necessity of teaching literature, bibliography and material aids to facilitate the comprehension of contents present in the History of Cuba subject which affect the teaching-learning process. Theoretical and empirical methods were used, for instance, from the abstract level to the concrete one, historical logical, systemic-structural, inductive-deductive, analytical-synthetically and modeling; analysis of documents, observation, interview and surveys. According to their results it was elaborated a multi-media educative software "Cubanahis" which serves as a class teaching aid, the independent study and bibliographic support of the subject, besides, it facilitates the assimilation and comprehension of difficult contents and the grasping of a meaningful learning.

Main syntactic problems in scientific texts of the professors of the Hygiene and Epidemiology career

El objetivo de este estudio consistió en caracterizar los principales fenómenos sintácticos presentes en textos científicos escritos por docentes del perfil de Higiene y Epidemiología de la Facultad de Tecnología de la Salud de Villa Clara. Se trabaja con una muestra intencional de ocho ponencias redactadas por los profesores de este perfil y presentadas en eventos provinciales, territoriales e internacionales durante 2010-2011. Los métodos y técnicas empleados posibilitaron sistematizar, analizar y percibir lo común de los datos registrados, y arribar a conclusiones confiables. Pudo constatarse que dichos profesionales conocen las generalidades del lenguaje científico; sin embargo, incurren inconscientemente en hechos sintácticos que afectan la claridad y calidad de sus textos. A partir del diagnóstico efectuado surge la necesidad de proyectar acciones de superación profesional y normativas relacionadas con esta labor.

The objective of this article is to characterize the process and outcomes of a research work, it was motivated by the occurrence of different syntactic problems found in the speech of professionals of Villa Clara Health Technology Faculty, which have an incidence in written scientific documents. The sample comprises eight scientific works that were written by professors of the Hygiene and Epidemiology career, which were presented in provincial, territorial and international events from 2010 to 2011. The methods and techniques applied made possible to systematize, analyze and perceive the registered common data, this allowed arriving at reliable conclusions. It could be stated that this professionals know the generalities of the scientific language; however, they unconsciously have syntactic problems which affect the clarity and quality of the scientific document. Consequently, Professional upgrading actions and norms related to the writing of scientific documents are proposed.

Proposal for the integration of contents of Preparation for the Defense II in Medicine

El estudio tiene como finalidad diseñar acciones para perfeccionar la integración de los contenidos temáticos en Preparación para la Defensa-II de Medicina, acordes con las dificultades y potencialidades detectadas en un primer momento. La investigación es de enfoque cualitativo y emplea como universo al total de docentes y estudiantes que impartieron o recibieron la asignatura en la sede central y los del Proyecto Policlínico Universitario de Santa Clara, y se trabaja con una muestra seleccionada de manera intencional por criterios, se aplican métodos teóricos y otros del nivel empírico como la observación, encuesta, análisis de documentos y el grupo nominal como técnica. Se realiza triangulación metodológica de la información obtenida, la cual permite identificar los contenidos susceptibles de integración, se formulan orientaciones metodológicas con este propósito, y se diseña un curso para los docentes. Los especialistas consultados ofrecen una valoración satisfactoria del producto según los rubros solicitados.

This study searches about the integration and systematization of contents in the Preparation for the Defense II subject in the Medicine career in the academic year 2009-2010. A qualitative research work was carried out. The universe comprises all the professors and the students who taught or received the subject in the traditional model in the central site and in the polyclinics of Santa Clara municipality. On purposive , probabilistic by criteria sampling there were applied empirical and theoretical methods such as the observation, survey, document analysis, nominal group techniques and the methodological contrasting of information. Taking into account the results of the diagnosis, there were identified the contents which could be integrated, methodological guidelines were elaborated and a course was given to the professors. The specialists considered this product as useful and pertinent.

The post graduated upgrading in semisolid preparations for Pharmacy technologists

La existencia de una problemática en torno a la preparación de los profesionales de Servicios Farmacéuticos para enfrentar la elaboración de formas farmacéuticas semisólidas, y que afecta la calidad en la formación de los alumnos y en el servicio prestado, determina la elaboración de un programa de superación profesional, en la Facultad Tecnología de la Salud de Villa Clara, donde se incluyen los diferentes elementos para la capacitación de los egresados en la elaboración y análisis de formulaciones correspondientes a estas formas farmacéuticas. El diseño del programa parte del diagnóstico de necesidades, mediante el uso de métodos tanto teóricos como empíricos. Sobre esta base se determinan los contenidos de las diferentes temáticas y su metodología. El diseño incluye objetivos, contenidos, métodos, medios y evaluación, basado en el uso combinado de las conferencias, el curso de postgrado, talleres y la autopreparación. Los especialistas consideraron la propuesta como pertinente y valiosa.

The problematic around the preparation of pharmacy technologists to face the elaboration of semisolid forms affects the quality of the students and the service they give as well. A professional upgrading syllabus was elaborated to solve this problem in Villa Clara Health Technology Faculty, where different elements for the qualification of these personnel are included to face the elaboration of the corresponding pharmaceutical formulae. The use of different theoretical and empirical methods made possible to elaborate the diagnosis of necessities which is at the base of the conception of this syllabus. The methodology and the content of the different topics there were determined under these bases. The design includes objectives, contents, methods, teaching aids and the assessing of the contents, based on the combined use of lectures, postgraduate courses, workshops and self-preparation. The proposal was validated as adequate and valuable by the specialists.

The pedagogical preparation, a necessity for tutors in the Obstetrics and Gynecology specialty

Se realizó una investigación descriptiva con el objetivo de identificar las modalidades de preparación pedagógica cursadas y la producción científico educacional de los tutores del Hospital Universitario Ginecoobstétrico "Mariana Grajales" de Villa Clara. Para ello se aplicó un cuestionario a los docentes, se revisaron los convenios individuales, los expedientes de cuadros docentes y los archivos del departamento de docencia e investigación de la institución. Se constata que el claustro está formado por 53 profesores tutores, que en su mayoría han cursado la formación básica en educación médica, y las publicaciones e investigaciones de corte pedagógico resultan mínimas en comparación con el resto de las temáticas científicas, y no cuentan con alguna preparación sobre enseñanza tutelar. Se alude a la necesidad de implementar acciones gerenciales docentes que favorezcan la dirección acertada del proceso enseñanza aprendizaje en el postgrado, como necesidad impostergable para los tutores.

A descriptive research work was carried out with the objective to identify the modalities, the pedagogical preparation received and the scientific and educational production of the professors who assume the tutorial teaching at the Mariana Grajales Gynecological university Hospital. A questionnaire was applied to the professors and there were checked the individual working agreements and their personal records as well as the institution teaching and researching files. The teaching staff has 53 professors, the majority of them have received a basic formation in medical education, but their publications and research works dealing with pedagogical aspects are very few compared to other scientific topics and they lack knowledge about tutorial teaching. It is stated the necessity to carry out teaching actions which favor the proper direction of the post graduate teaching-learning process, which is a remarkable necessity for tutors.

The Project method, its application in the medical informatics discipline

Investigación realizada en la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Villa Clara, en la carrera de Estomatología durante el primer semestre de curso 2010-2011, con el objetivo de describir los principales resultados de la aplicación del método de proyectos en la disciplina Informática Médica. Fue aplicada por los integrantes del claustro docente, los cuales realizaron el proceso según las orientaciones del programa, solo se modificó el método de enseñanza sugerido. Concluida la etapa de aplicación fueron entrevistados estudiantes y profesores, la información obtenida fue sometida a la técnica de triangulación, posteriormente se sometió la propuesta a criterio de especialistas. La aplicación del método de proyectos en la disciplina Informática Médica vincula las diferentes formas de enseñanza y su dirección metodológica, garantizando la actividad cognoscitiva independiente y la búsqueda del conocimiento.

This research work was carried out in Villa Clara University of Medical Sciences, in the Odontology career during the first term of the academic year 2011-2012, with the objective to describe the main outcomes in the application of the method project in the medical informatics discipline. It was applied by the members of the teaching staff, who carried out the process according to the orientations of the syllabus; just the teaching method was modified. Students and professors were interviewed after the conclusion of the application stage, the information gathered was contrasted. The proposal was valued by the specialists. The application of the project method in the medical informatics discipline links the different teaching forms and its methodological direction, which guarantee the independent cognitive activity and the search for knowledge.

Towards a developing conception in the quality of learning assessment. A booklet proposal

Las actuales demandas de la educación superior precisan de enseñar a pensar a los estudiantes, lo que transforma la toma de decisiones pedagógicas en los profesores. Se realizó una investigación en el Politécnico de la Salud villaclareño, donde se caracterizó el acontecer de las prácticas evaluativas de los docentes y su influencia en el aprendizaje y desarrollo personal de los estudiantes, lo que sirvió de base en la elaboración de un manual para transformar las prácticas evaluativas de los profesores, con un contenido teórico actualizado y didáctico que incluye actividades prácticas que permiten la reflexión, el autodidactismo, autoevaluación y su utilización en actividades metodológicas en diferentes carreras y departamentos de la Facultad, motivándolos a modificar sus prácticas evaluativas. Este documento ha sido socializado en actividades metodológicas y eventos a diferentes niveles y escenarios de la educación superior.

The current demands of the higher education need to teach the students to think, which make transformations in the pedagogical decision taking on the part of the professors. A research work was carried out in the health Technology faculty in Villa Clara, where the professor's assessment activities were characterized and the learning and personal development of the students as well. On these bases a booklet was elaborated to transform the assessment practices of the professors, having updated theoretical and didactic contents which allow a reflexive knowledge, self-learning, self-evaluation and its usage in methodological activities in different departments and careers of the faculty, motivating them to modify their assessment practices. This document has been discussed in methodological activities and events at different levels and scenarios of the higher education.

The necessity to continue improving morpho-physiology in the medicine career

Durante el curso 2007-2008 se introduce la disciplina Morfofisiología en la carrera de Medicina en Cuba, y con ello la integración de los contenidos de las ciencias básicas biomédicas centrada en la integración sistémica del organismo humano. En el trabajo se sintetizan y fundamentan varias recomendaciones derivadas de la experiencia de cinco años de su ejecución en la Facultad de Medicina de Villa Clara. Las recomendaciones se encaminan hacia el rescate de los medios de enseñanza tradicionales disponibles en los laboratorios docentes de ciencias básicas, la preparación del plantel profesoral, tanto de especialistas como profesores noveles, entre otras. Estas procuran un perfeccionamiento en la ejecución del currículo aprovechando fortalezas y oportunidades y minimizando sus debilidades respecto a la enseñanza integrada de las ciencias básicas.

During the academic year 2007-2008 was included the Morpho-physiology discipline in the Medicine career in Cuba, where the contents of the basic biomedical sciences were unified taking into account the systemic integration of the human body. This work synthesizes and states some recommendations that appeared as a result of five years of experiences while applying it in the Medicine career of Villa Clara University of Medical Sciences. These recommendations center the attention on the recovering of traditional teaching aids which are in the labs of the basic sciences, the preparation of the teaching staff, either specialists or beginners, among others. They improve the curriculum taking advantages of the strengths and opportunities and lessening the weaknesses in respect to the integrated teaching of the basic sciences.

What and who publish in EDUMECENTRO Journal?

Los resultados del estudio bibliométrico que se presentan resumen algunas características asociadas con el tipo de contenido publicado en la revista EDUMECENTRO durante sus cuatro años de vida divulgativa. Se indaga sobre cifras y tipologías de artículos por edición, temáticas más abordadas, palabras clave de mayor empleo, y autores más citados. Se explora además la procedencia geográfica de los autores (municipios y provincias), y sus afiliaciones institucionales, asimismo se precisan los autores y coautores que más han publicado en este espacio del quehacer investigativo educacional. Se realiza una breve caracterización de la revista, los elementos que distinguen el contenido de sus publicaciones, los autores y coautores de sus artículos, y constituye una constancia documental que refleja el quehacer científico educacional de qué y quiénes han publicado en ella.

The results of the bibliometric study which is presented in this work summarize some of the characteristics associated to the type of contents published in Edumecentro Journal in its four years of work. It searches about figures and typology of articles per edition, topics covered, most frequent key words and the most quoted authors. It also explores about the geographical areas of the authors (provinces, municipalities), and institutions, as well as the authors and coauthors with the greatest number of works in the researching educational field. A brief characterization of the journal is presented comprising the distinctive elements of the issues, authors and coauthors of these articles. This constitutes a vivid documental reference which reflects the scientific-educational work carried out in this territory and what and those who have published in this journal.

Proposal of texts for the professional orientation of the group of students of the medical sciences who are in the army

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal, desde septiembre 2011 a mayo del 2012, para diagnosticar los conocimientos sobre orientación profesional y proponer textos para lograrla en los diferidos del grupo de las ciencias médicas. El universo son los 31 estudiantes de la Unidad Militar 3698. Se utilizaron métodos de los niveles teórico: analítico-sintético e inducción-deducción y empíricos: el análisis documental, para revisar los programas y orientaciones metodológicas de las asignaturas del Curso de superación cultural; y encuesta a estudiantes, además se indagó el criterio de especialistas para valorar la calidad y pertinencia de la propuesta. Los resultados están relacionados con el bajo nivel de conocimientos de los alumnos sobre su futura labor, la cual no se intenciona desde las asignaturas. Se proponen 8 textos para ese empeño desde el Programa especial de la asignatura práctica de la lengua española, explicados metodológicamente. Fueron valorados como excelentes con algunas sugerencias ya asumidas en la propuesta.

A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out, from September 2011 to May 2012, to diagnose the knowledge about professional orientation and to propose some texts to achieve this purpose in the group of students of the medical sciences who are in the army. The universe comprises 31 students who are at the Army base 3698. Different methods were used, from the theoretical level: analytic-synthetic and induction _deduction and from the empirical level: analysis of documents to check the syllabus and methodological guidelines for cultural upgrading; a survey was applied to the students and the specialist´s criterion method was used to value the quality and pertinence of the proposal. The outcomes are related to the low level of knowledge of the students about their future work, which is not worked out through the subjects. Eight texts are proposed to achieve this goal through the special syllabus of the Spanish language, which are methodologically explained. They were valued as excellent with some suggestions that were taken into account in this proposal.

Characterization of the assessment process in the Medical Informatics I subject

La asignatura Informática Médica I, se imparte en la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Villa Clara desde el curso 1997-1998 y tiene como objetivo preparar al estudiante para asimilar las nuevas tendencias en el desarrollo de sistemas computacionales en la gestión de salud y el creciente papel de la tecnología informática en los avances del diagnóstico y el tratamiento médicos. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo retrospectivo, con el objetivo de caracterizar el proceso de evaluación en la asignatura Informática Médica I, en el primer semestre del curso escolar 2011-2012. A través de la revisión del expediente de la asignatura se constató que el colectivo trató de manera adecuada la relación objetivo-contenido-evaluación, que todos sus miembros participaron en la confección y calificación de las evaluaciones planificadas y que se establecieron orientaciones metodológicas para la organización y ejecución de cada una de ellas, garantizando previamente los materiales necesarios para el desarrollo del estudio independiente de los estudiantes.

The Medical Informatics I subject is taught at Villa Clara university of Medical Sciences since the academic year 1997-1998. Its objective is to prepare the students to assimilate the new tendencies in the development of computing systems for the health management and the increasing role of the informatics technology in current medical diagnosis & treatments. A descriptive, retrospective study was carried out to characterize the assessment process in the Medical Informatics I subject, in the first term of the academic year2011-2012. Through the review of the subject file could be stated that the teaching staff established a proper relationship among the objectives-contents-assessment components, all the members of the staff participated in the elaboration and marking of the evaluations planned and methodological guidelines were elaborated to organize and carry out each evaluation and the necessary materials were previously guaranteed for the development of the independent work of the students.

Motivational factors which influenced upon fresh more students to select the Odontology career.

Tipo de estudio: descriptivo en estudiantes de primer año de la Facultad de Estomatología de Villa Clara en el curso 2011-2012. Objetivo: determinar los factores motivacionales que influyeron en estos estudiantes para elegir la carrera. Universo: constituido por todos los estudiantes matriculados en la sede central. Muestra: se obtuvo mediante un muestreo aleatorio simple con el 50 % de los alumnos. Métodos: teóricos, empíricos y matemáticos. Resultados: el 50.9% de los ingresados a la carrera fueron del municipio Santa Clara; de éstos, el 49% acceden por preuniversitario, el resto por concurso. Entre ellos, el 51.6% declaran haber recibido conferencias orientadoras y solamente un estudiante del propio municipio señala participación en círculo de interés, el resto de los municipios no refieren haber recibido alguna orientación. Los factores motivacionales identificados en los estudiantes fueron el reconocimiento social representado por 22 (41.5%) y la familia o amistades 21 (39.6). Conclusiones: la mayoría de los estudiantes ingresaron por vía preuniversitario, y predominaron los del municipio Santa Clara. Se identificaron como factores influyentes el reconocimiento social y la influencia afectiva, la escasez de orientación y formación vocacional, y en mayor medida, la casi nula participación en círculo de interés. Por lo que proponemos el análisis en las enseñanzas media superior y superior, de factores como los ya descritos para que se desarrollen acciones con el fin de lograr una mayor motivación en los estudiantes.

Type of study: descriptive study in fresh more students of the Villa Clara Odontology Faculty in the academic year2011- 2012. Objective: to determine the motivational factors that influenced upon fresh more students to select the Odontology career. Universe: All the students registered in the central site. Sample: conglomerated and randomized sampling of 50% of the students of the groups. Method: a survey was applied to the students. Results: 50.9 % of the students are from Santa Clara, and 49% come from the pre- university, the rest entered through contest. 51.6% referred they had received orientation lectures in Santa Clara municipality and only one student participated in a special training and orientation group, the rest of the municipalities haven't received any orientation. The identified motivational factors that the students referred were the social recognition 22(41.5%) and the family or friendships 21(39.6) Conclusions: most of the students entered coming from the pre-university and the ones from Santa Clara municipality are predominant. It is stated the presence of motivational factors such as the social recognition and the affective influence, it is also stated the lack of orientation, vocational formation and in a greater extent the participation in special training and orientation groups.

The independent work, a way to strengthen the responsibility value in the university students

El presente trabajo se refiere a la función que puede ejercer una adecuada y estructurada orientación del trabajo independiente a través de la guía didáctica y las tareas docentes como célula básica del proceso docente educativo, en el reforzamiento del valor responsabilidad en los estudiantes universitarios desde lo curricular. Se precisan en él tres aspectos fundamentales: el valor responsabilidad, el trabajo independiente y la importancia que tiene la preparación pedagógica de los docentes para ejercer adecuadamente esta función.

The current work deals with the role of the independent work taking into account the didactic guideline and the teaching tasks to reinforce the responsibility value in the university students through the curriculum. Three important elements are present in the work, the responsibility value; the independent work; and the pedagogical preparation of teachers to carry out this work in a proper way. A review of the topics is done as well as the author's points of view are expressed.

The chalkboard, its influence upon the quality of the teaching-learning process

El sistema educativo cubano actual necesita que los docentes de la educación médica superior puedan usar de manera correcta y eficaz la totalidad de los medios de enseñanza que estén a su alcance. Este trabajo tiene el propósito de argumentar la importancia de la utilización del pizarrón en aras de aumentar la calidad en el proceso de enseñanza aprendizaje potenciando la función educativa y humana del maestro. Ninguno de los adelantos de la ciencia y la técnica que existen en las aulas hoy debe sustituir al pizarrón como base para una buena exposición del material a aprender y para generar experiencias de aprendizajes, por lo que se exponen algunas consideraciones sobre su efectividad como medio de percepción directa y modelo explícito de comunicación.

The Cuban educative system needs that the higher education professors can use in a proper way all the teaching aids at their disposal. The purpose of this work is to back up the importance of the use of the chalkboard so as to increase the quality of the teaching-learning process favoring the educative and humanistic functions of professors. None of the scientific advances that are in the classrooms at present should substitute the chalkboard to teach the contents and to generate learning experiences, that´s why some considerations are exposed about its effectiveness as a teaching aid of direct perception and a model of explicit communication.
