^les^aSe realizó una investigación en una finca comercial de ceba, con el objetivo de estudiar el comportamiento productivo de tres genotipos bovinos en un sistema de pastoreo y semiestabulación, durante la ceba inicial, en la época lluviosa. Los añojos (45), de 12 meses de edad y 140 kg de peso vivo, se dividieron en tres grupos de 15 animales cada uno, según un diseño totalmente aleatorizado. Los tratamientos fueron los genotipos Cebú (C), F₁ Holstein x Cebú (HC) y Mambí de Cuba (M). Estos pastorearon como un solo grupo en un área de gramíneas, durante el horario diurno, y recibieron sales minerales a voluntad, 1 kg de residuo de destilería de maíz (Northgold) y 1 kg afrecho de trigo, respectivamente, durante la tarde-noche, horario en el que permanecieron estabulados. Hubo diferencias significativas (p < 0,05) en el peso vivo final, a favor de C y HC, con valores de 260,0; 263,0 y 241,0 kg para C, HC y M, respectivamente. Las ganancias de peso vivo (kg/día) también difirieron significativamente (p < 0,05), con los menores promedios en el tipo Mambí (0,620 kg diarios). La disponibilidad de pastos fue adecuada para la época, con 26,6 kg de MS/animal/día, y predominó la guinea común (43 %) y el CT-115 (19 %) en la composición florística del pastizal. Se concluye que, aunque los tres genotipos tuvieron un buen comportamiento productivo en la ceba inicial, los mejores resultados se obtuvieron en los animales con una mayor ascendencia de Bos indicus (C y HC).^len^aA research was conducted in a commercial farm in order to study the productive performance of three cattle genotypes in a semi-confined grazing system, during initial fattening. The young bulls (45), of 12 months of age and 140 kg of live weight, were divided into three groups of 15 animals each, according to a completely randomized design. The treatments were the genotypes Zebu (Z), F₁ Holstein x Zebu (HZ) and Mambí de Cuba (M). They grazed together in an area of grasses, during daytime, and were fed with mineral salts at will, 1 kg of corn distillery residue (Northgold) and 1 kg of wheat bran, respectively, during early evening, period after which they remained confined. There were significant differences (p < 0,05) in the final live weight, that favored Z and HZ, with values of 260,0; 263,0 and 241,0 kg for Z, HZ and M, respectively. Live weight gains (kg/day) also differed significantly (p < 0,05), with the lowest averages in the Mambí type (0,620 kg daily). The pasture availability was adequate for the season, with 26,6 kg DM/animal/day, and common Guinea grass (43 %) and CT-115 (19 %) predominated in the floristic composition of the pastureland. It is concluded that, although the three genotypes had a good productive performance in the initial fattening, the best results were obtained in animals with a higher Bos indicus ancestry (Z and HZ)
