^les^aSe exponen los resultados de un estudio retrospectivo y descriptivo, realizado con el fin de conocer las regulari1dades de la bibliografía activa del doctor Carlos J. Finlay, publicada en forma de artículos de revista. A ese efecto, se aplicó un procedimiento de análisis de perfil bibliométrico, en el cual se consideraron como indicadores el alcance temporal de la producción científica del sabio cubano; los trabajos que publicó en revistas cubanas y extranjeras; los artículos que redactó como autor único y en colaboración; sus contribuciones originales en español y en otros idiomas; sus traducciones y los temas que abordó como publicista. Se obtuvo que entre 1864 y 1912, Finlay escribió un total de 187 artículos los que están distribuidos en 11 revistas cubanas y 9 extrajeras, 168 de ellos como autor único; 163 de sus 182 trabajos originales los hizo en español y el resto en inglés y alemán, además de 5 traducciones de textos en inglés y en francés ,se reconoce que los temas a los cuales se refirió ascienden a 32, con un notable predominio de escritos sobre la fiebre amarilla, el cólera y las oftalmopatías. Se establece la posible utilidad de este estudio original como punto de referencia para la realización de investigaciones con mayor nivel de profundidad acerca de la literatura finlaísta y como estímulo para el examen de otros aspectos importantes de la bibliografía médica cubana en general que permanecen aún sin explorar.^len^aThe results from the retrospective and descriptive study aimed at knowing the features of active bibliography of Dr Carlos J Finlay published in journal articles are exposed. A procedure of bibliometric profile analysis was carried out in which the folliwing indicators were taking into account: the temporary extent of his scientific production, the researches published in Cuban and foreing journals, the articles he wrote as sole author and in colaboration, his original contribution´s in Spanish and other languages, his translations and the topics he discussed as a publicist. From 1864 to 1912, Finlay wrote a total of 187 articles published in 11 Cuban journals and 9 foreing journals, 168 of them as sole author. Of a total numbers of 182 original works, 163 were written in Spanish. The other original works were written in English and Germany as well as 5 translation of texts from English and French. The most referred topics were yellow fever, cholera and eye diseases. The possible usefulness of this original study as a reference for further researches on Finlaist literature is established and the encouragement for the examination of other remarkable features of Cuban medical bibliography that remains unexplored
