^les^aFundamento: Durante un siglo de desarrollo de las técnicas funcionales, las fuerzas de la oclusión no eran utilizadas de manera adecuada como mecanismo funcional para corregir las maloclusiones hasta la introducción de uno de los aparatos más recientes y con mejores resultados clínicos denominado Bloques Gemelos. Objetivos: Determinar los cambios clínicos y cefalométricos en pacientes con Clase II división 1 tratados con la técnica de Bloques Gemelos. Método: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal de tipo prospectivo, sin grupo control, en el Departamento de Ortodoncia de la Clínica Estomatológica Docente “La Vigía” en el período de octubre del 2005 a marzo del 2007 en diez pacientes con distoclusión esqueletal con edades entre 11 y 25 años a los que se instalaron aparatos Bloques Gemelos convencionales y se determinaron los cambios obtenidos a los 6 meses de iniciada la etapa activa del tratamiento mediante el examen clínico y el análisis cefalométrico de las telerradiografías laterales del cráneo. Resultados: Se determinó que los Bloques Gemelos constituyen un método eficaz para el tratamiento de la maloclusión Síndrome Clase II división 1. Se estableció en la mayoría de los pacientes neutroclusión de molares y caninos, además de corregir el resalte y sobrepase patológico. Se logró un incremento del ángulo SNB, longitud del cuerpo mandibular y altura facial inferior. Conclusiones: Los Bloques Gemelos constituyen un método eficaz para el tratamiento de la Clase II división 1.^len^aBackground: During a development century of functional techniques, the occlusal forces were not used in an appropriate way as functional mechanism to correct the malocclusions until the introduction of one of the most recent appliance and with better clinical results denominated Twin Blocks. Objective: To determine the clinical and cephalometric changes in Class II division 1 patients treated with the Twin Blocks technique. Method: A descriptive cross-sectional study of prospective type, without control group, was conducted in the Orthodontics Department at the Educational Odontology Clinic "LA Vigía" from October 2005 to March 2007 in ten patients with skeletal distoclusion with ages between 11 and 25 years to those conventional Twin Blocks appliance were settled and the obtained changes were determined to the 6 months of initiating the active stage of the treatment by means of the clinical exam and the cephalometric analysis of the lateral teleradiographies of the skull. Results: The Twin Blocks constitute an effective method for the treatment of class II division 1 malocclusion syndrome was determined. neutroclusion of molars and canine in most of the patients was established, besides correcting the prominence and the pathological surpass. An increment of the SNB angle, length of the mandibular body and inferior facial height was achieved. Conclusions: The Twin Blocks constitute an effective method for the Class II division 1 treatment.
