This work presents a methodology to study transient processes of direct and alternating current, in linear circuits with a single energy storage element, using an instrumentation system with a computer and a data acquisition card, which generates a train of pulse to replace devices connecting and disconnecting the source. Mathematical models were obtained for transient processes in the presence of the pulse train and the combination of the pulse train in series with a sinusoidal signal source, allowing study these processes and test the structural similarity of models obtained both when connecting and disconnecting the circuit using switches. The lab was designed and implemented, obtaining the instantaneous characteristics of voltage and current in the energy storage elements. The results are consistent with the models obtained and the laws of transient processes and also were compared with theoretical calculations and measurements made with digital tools, corroborating its veracity
