This work discusses how the concept of fraction is formed with the seventh grade students of basic secondary education of Municipal Polytechnic School of the city of Cali. It begins studying the mental representations that they have about the concept of fraction and then a number of activities related to fractions arises, considering the part-whole, supported by the method of cooperative learning, using strategies such as pair work and knowledge construction using manipulative material so that they achieve to analyze some cognitive and didactic phenomena in relation to learning the concept of fraction.
