Abstract

FERNANDEZ FERRER, María de los Ángeles et al. Conocimientos, creencias y prácticas en relación con la amebiasis intestinal. Rev cubana med [online]. 1998, vol.37, n.3, pp. 147-156. ISSN 1561-302X.

In a previous study conducted at the province of Cienfuegos with ENZYMEBA it was proved that the microscopic examination of stools for the diagnosis of intestinal amebiasis was associated with false diagnoses in that province. Physicians from Cienfuegos were surveyed in connection with the diagnosis and treatment of intestinal amebiasis to know the possible factors related to this problem. According to the analysis of the results, the adverse consequences of the overdiagnosis of intestinal amebiasis may be aggravated by the lack of perception of the problem and by their marked ignorance on important aspects of this parasitosis.
