Abstract
AVALOS CLAVELO, Julio L and PACHECO SEGUI, Juan. Irrigation scheduling of sugar cane in the Villa Clara province, Cuba. Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2012, vol.21, n.4, pp. 61-66. ISSN 2071-0054.
The aim of this study is to develop an advisory system for irrigation scheduling of sugarcane in the territory of Villa Clara, which allows the farmer to decide when and how much irrigation water to apply depending of plantation age, climatic demand and soil properties. Calculated the net irrigation depth for different soil types and ages of the plantations, which vary from 20 to 44 mm, was established calculation of reference evapotranspiration by Penman-Monteith formula, proving that the highest values occur in Santo Domingo, while Caibarién and Sagua la Grande have similar values. The critical irrigation interval in plant-cane varies from 4 to 8 days for different soils, while for the shoots are 6 to 11 days. A system traffic information containing a report was designed, which is received by farmer every 7 days, and they should select the net irrigation depth and the irrigation interval depending of the predominant soil, age of the stub and age of the crop.
Keywords : sugar cane irrigation; reference evapotranspiration; irrigation regime.
