Abstract
SALDANA BERNABEU, Alberto; GARCIA TRIANA, Bárbara Elena; ENAMORADO CASANOVA, Antonio and GARCIA PINEIRO, José Carlos. La ciclosporina A y el daño oxidativo en el trasplante. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 2002, vol.21, n.3, pp. 197-200. ISSN 1561-3011.
The possible prooxidant effect of cyclosporin in contraposition with one of its most powerful actions, the inhibition of the transition of mitochondrial permeability, was discussed. Cyclosporin is one of the most used drugs in the immunosuppression of the transplant recepients. One of the risks of the administration of this drug is its toxic effect in the kidney and other tissues. It has been proved that this toxicity is mediated by mechanisms of oxidative cellular damage, since it may be attenuated by using antioxidants.
