Abstract
SEUC, Armando H; DOMINGUEZ, Emma and HIDALGO, Vilma. Esperanza de vida ajustada por asma. Rev Cubana Hig Epidemiol [online]. 2002, vol.40, n.3, pp. 254-278. ISSN 1561-3003.
Asthma is one of the non-communicable chronic diseases of greatest impact due to its morbidity and mortality. In Cuba, as regards morbidity its impact has not been quantified in a unique index having the relative severity of asthma, that is, its impact on the quality (and quantity) of life we socially aspire to. Disability-adjusted life expectancy (DALE) is a relatively new indicator that allows quantifying the effect of morbidity from any disease, in particular, asthma, on life expectancy. DALE for asthma was calculated in this group in 1990, 1995 and 2000, making easy the comparative study of the impact of morbidity from this disease between men and women along these 3 years.
