Abstract

CHITUE-DE-ASSUNCAO-NASCIMENTO, Juliano et al. Rheological Behaviour on Biogrease Based on Jatropha Curcas Loil and Lithium Soap Thickener. RTQ [online]. 2013, vol.33, n.2, pp. 143-150. ISSN 2224-6185.

Research and development of new biodegradable lubricating greases (biogreases) have become more necessary in the increase offer of environmental friendly lubricants. Rheology is defined as a study in shape change and flow of matter, where the relationship between the shear stress and the shear deformation rate defines the rheological behavior of lubricating greases. The objective of this work was to analyze the rheological behavior of biogrease based on Jatropha curcasL oil and lithium soap thickener at different temperatures (26 oC, 40 oC and 60 oC). The rheological parameters, such as shear stress and apparent viscosity, both as functions of deformation rate, were analyzed using a ThermoHaake Rheometer 550. Biogrease based on Jatropha curcasL oil and lithium soap thickener behavior were obtained by adjust in Bulkley-Herschell rheological model.
