Lichen planus is a dermatological disease of unknown origin that manifests itself in the oral mucosa, reason for which we decided to conduct a study on it as part of the Program for the Early Detection of Oral Cancer in the Isle of Youth special municipality with the patients screened in this program aimed at determining the epidemiological behavior of this entity, distribution by sex, race, the most affected oral zone, and the relation between the appearance of injuries in the skin and mucosas. According to the results, it was concluded that the oral lichen planus is more comon in men at the third and sixth decades of life, in mestizoes and white individuals, and that the cheek was the most affected area. The cutaneous lesions appeared only in 2 of the 21 affected cases.
