GATO DEL MONTE, Armando; PADRON YAQUIS, Alejandro Saúl y ALFONSO VALDES, Yalile. Reformulación de digoxina 250 µg/mL inyectable para la producción nacional. Rev Cubana Farm [online]. 2001, vol.35, n.2, pp. 85-89. ISSN 1561-2988.
Cardiotonic glycosides represent the combination of one aglycone or genin and three monosaccharide molecules. Their pharmacological activity lies in aglycone but its monomeric units (glucose molecules)are the ones that regulate absorption, permeability of cell membrane, persistence of cardiac action and the potency of resulting glycoside. This paper reports on the development of the technological process of injectable digoxin for the treatment of heart failures and supraventricular arrithmias; the results achieved so far have been satisfactory and verified by the requirements set in USP 23. Through the stability studies it was proved that the product has a 2-year useful lifetime stored at room temperature. It was also demonstrated that toxicity of glycosides in female albino rodents ranged 3.61 to 4.26 mg per kg of body weight.
