A case of atypical typhoid fever is reported in an immunocompetent patient admitted in "Dr. Luis Díaz Soto" Higher Institute of Military Medicine. At first, he presented a picture of acute bronchitis and a plateau febrile syndrome appeared later with a gradual decrease of temperature. Gastrointestinal symptoms or signs were never observed. The initial hemocultures were negative and they became positive to Salmonella typhi from the second to the fifth week. All the coprocultures, bilicultures and medullocultures were negative. Other localizations of the bacteria were not confirmed. The epidemiological studies of the contacts proved to be negative, too. The irregularity of the case was demonstrated by the form of presentation of the clinical picture, the results of the cultures and its epidemiology.
