Resumen
RAMIREZ RESTREPO, Luis Miguel y KONSTANTINOVA VSEVOLODOVNA, Liudmila. Reading Paper Documents versus E-Documents at Universities in Colombia and Ukraine. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2018, vol.37, n.3 ISSN 0257-4314.
Reading e-documents is more likely to cause eye strain, mental fatigue, severe headache, and short attention span than reading paper documents. This work came to this conclusion by examining the effects of reading both types of documents on university students from Colombia and Ukraine. A prospective cohort, cross-sectional, and analytic study was conducted using Chi-square statistics, the Mann-Whitney U test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test using IBM SPSS Statistics 24. Statistically significant differences in how many hours per week students from different universities sit in front of a PC were found, as well as in reading comprehension of paper documents versus e-documents. Significant differences in marks scored by students reading paper documents, and students reading e-documents were also found, which allows concluding that paper documents are more likely to be better comprehended than e-documents.
