The article addresses the conception of the professional training process in the current Cuban University. Objective: to present an experience aimed at promoting the life and work of José Martí from the task of impact in the first year of the Pedagogy-Psychology career at the University of Matanzas, integrating the dynamics of the substantive processes that take place in the University. Research methods: the case study required the application of the analysis methods of the product of the activity, the observation and the interview. The nine students of the first year of the aforementioned career participated in the research. The results obtained show the effective collaborative work in the investigative-training process carried out with benefits for the promotion of the life and work of José Martí at the ESBU “Generación del Centenario” in Matanzas, and at the same time, significant acquisitions for his scientific-research training.
