ALVAREZ, Marta; MOYA, C; RODRIGUEZ, J y PLANA, Dagmara. Claudia, Mercy y Mayle, tres nuevas variedades de tomate para el consumo fresco. cultrop [online]. 2008, vol.29, n.1, pp. 43-43. ISSN 0258-5936.
Three new tomato varieties are reported for fresh consumption they come from the breeding program of the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences (INCA): ‘Claudia’ is derived from crossing two Cuban commercial varieties, ‘Amalia’ and ‘HC 3880’, whereas ‘Mercy’ and ‘Mayle’ are derived from selecting ‘Rambo’ hybrid lines. Fruit quality and size is the distinctive feature for consumption in all varieties as well as its high yield potential, which is statistically similar to ‘Amalia’, used as control variety in comparative experimental trials. The three varieties have been seeded by farmers from Havana and Pinar del Río, and further selected among their favourite five due to its high yields and large fruits
