MARTIN ALONSO, Gloria M; RIVERA ESPINOSA, Ramón; ARIAS PEREZ, Lianne y PEREZ DIAZ, Alberto. Canavalia ensiformis response to mycorrhizal inoculation with Glomus cubense (strain INCAM-4), their permanency effect in the maize crop. cultrop [online]. 2012, vol.33, n.2, pp. 20-28. ISSN 0258-5936.
To evaluate the influence of the number of spores of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (AMF) in the soil on the response of canavalia to the inoculation with an efficient strain of AMF, they were carried out several experiments with different conditions of initial content of spores and handling of mycorrhizical inoculant: (group 1) soils in those that never this biofertilizer type had been applied before and the initial number of spores of AMF was low; (group 2) soils with high initial number of spores and in the one that they have been carried out successive applications of biofertilizers with the specie of AMF Glomus cubense (strain INCAM-4) during several years and (group 3) soils where this biofertilizer had never been applied and in the one that was caused by means of a previous cultivation of plants (spontaneous vegetation and Brachiaria sp.), a high initial number of native spores of HMA. In the soils with smaller initial number of spores of HMA (group 1) the canavalia had a positive response to the inoculation, with differences in the evaluate variable among the treatments with inoculation and without this. However, in the soils with previous applications of micorrizical inoculant and high number of spores (group 2) was not observed response from canavalia to the inoculation, although it presented an effective fungus colonization. In the soil with a high content of native spores (group 3), the canavalia had response to the inoculation, what evidences the high competitiveness and efficiency of the strains Glomus cubense (INCAM-4). In all the cases effect of permanency of the inoculation of the canavalia was presented on the mycorrhizical colonization of the later cultivation, in this case maize.
