DOMINGUEZ PEREZ, María Eugenia; LUNA CEVALLOS, Elsa y ALVAREZ NUNEZ, Rudbeckia. Marfan’s syndrome: 10 years of experience. Rev Cubana Ortop Traumatol [online]. 2000, vol.14, n.1-2, pp. 108-111. ISSN 1561-3100.
A retrospective descriptive study of 79 patients with the diagnosis of Marfan’s Syndrome that received attention at the physicians’ offices of the Provincial Department of Genetics and of “Eliseo Noel Camaaño” Provincial Teaching Hospital during the last 10 years was conducted. It was determined that the most frequently found musculoskeletal disorders were: tall stature with disproportion of the inferior segment, arachnodactyly and scoliosis associated with radiological findings, such as thinness of the cortical substance of the long bones, increase of the metacarpial index and scoliosis. It was observed that a high number of patients, 41 in all (51.6 %), were linked to physical overload activities that were not suitable for their disease.
