Resumen
GAKEGNE, Edwin Ronnie et al. Antagonist activity of fluorescent Pseudomonas against Alternaria solani Sorauer pathogen of potato crop (Solanum tuberosum L.). Rev. Protección Veg. [online]. 2017, vol.32, n.3, pp. 00-00. ISSN 2224-4697.
The objective of this work was to determine the antagonistic effect of three strains of fluorescent Pseudomonas spp. against a pathogenic strain of A. solani isolated from potato. Two culture media were tested in in vitro dual culture assays to determine the antagonistic effect of the Pseudomonas strains, the preventive action, and the fungistatic effect of the bacterial strains and of their metabolites. In each experiment, the treatments were compared by analysis of variance and Tukey's test; in addition, the percentages of the preventive action and the fungistatic effect were tested according to the comparison of proportions. Pseudomonas spp. strains markedly inhibited the growth of the pathogen; Pseudomonas protegens Pf-5 excelled for being the best in all the tests performed, besides the apparent mycoparasitism. These results showed that this latter strain could be promising for the biological control of this pathogen in the potato crop.
