A descriptive, crosssectional study was performed so as to determine the knowledge a group of women had about poreconceptional risk. They were registered as such in five health clinic of Ignacio Agramonte microdistric belonging to Tula Aguilera Policlinic of Camaguey City in second semester of 1996. They answered a survey which included epidemiological variables and aspects related with knowlodge about preconceptional risk. The main results were that 35, 65 % had an incomplete assessment of preconceptional risk concept. There was a huge figure difference among women registered as risk and the self recognition of it. The doctor's advice was used in 89, 57%? the intrauterine divise (IUD), and contraceptive pills (99, 13 %) were deficiencies in the selfrecognition of preconceptional risk? more than one third knew the significance of risk? doctor' s advice was the information mean most widely used and the contraceptive methods were rarely used.
