ABSTRACT A descriptive study was carried out for characterising abuse in the elderly in a health clinic from the area of Rodolfo Ramírez Esquivel Teaching Polyclinic during 2002. The research universe was composed of 84 aged persons. A survey was applied which constituted the primary register of the study and data obtained wee automatically processed with a 95 % confidence: The prevailing age group was that of 60 to 69 years (77, 3 %), the same as femenine sex (54, 7 %). The wide family functionating (57, 1%) were relevant. As to the relationship with the abuse most frequently found was the psychologic (98, 8 %).
