As a result of the malacologic prospections carried out in Megano Grande, Cruz; Romano and Guajaba Keys, belonging to the Norh Keys of Camagüey the general distribution of freshwater molluscs of medical significance was established. Seven genders and five families were collected belonging to: Ampullaridae, Lymnaeidae, Physidae, Planorbidae and Succineacea, all with relevance and sanitary interest. Samples of the group in Megano Grande and Cruz were not collected, presumably due to the existence of unfavorable ecology. Romano key was important taking into account the number of species reported. Profound studies aimed at updating, enriching and systematizing Knowlegdges, gained about freshwater and land mollusc species, were initiated, which are fundamental for tracing effective strategies of control on intermediary host of tropical diseases in man.
