A descriptive study was carried out the aim of knowing the behavior of coping with death by the elderly with terminal disease in the health area of Rodolfo Ramírez Esquivel Teaching Polyclinic of Camagüey, from January to January 2003. The study universe was composed of 130 patients who were selected for our systematic sample, randomized at 1:4, they were applied survey elaborated for this purpose. In the sample studied the age group prevailing was that of 81 and over, feminine sex and elementary studies. Among elderly, interpersonal death was the most frequent, and among phases of agony, depression. Most of the aged wished to die in their homes, relative generally stated superprotection and permissibility towards them, while the aged presented depression, anxiety, fear and dependency upon family.
