HONAN GONZALEZ, Alina; HERRERA HERNANDEZ, Norma y DARIAS RENDON, Greilys. Pneumatic tonometry vs. applanation tonometry in patients with glaucoma suspicion. Rev. Med. Electrón. [online]. 2011, vol.33, n.6, pp. 694-700. ISSN 1684-1824.
We presented a descriptive, prospective study on the ocular tonometry, where we determined the intraocular pressure using two different exploring methods in glaucoma suspected patients, and a normal group of the patients who assisted the outpatient consultation of the University Clinical Surgical Hospital Comandante Faustino Pérez, of Matanzas, from January to December 2010. The objective was comparing both methods in security terms, and determining which is the most efficacious for the patients. The pneumotonometry method was the ideal one. It was showed the quality improvement of the health care process and the given health care services; the pneumotonometer (air-puff) allowed advances in the diagnostic and treatment with a non-invasive, precise, efficient modality, more secure and easier to make.
