FERRER LOZANO, Yovanny y MOREJON TROFIMOVA, Yanett. General Miguel Bravo Sentíes. Doctor of the Liberation Army during the Ten Years War. Rev.Med.Electrón. [online]. 2015, vol.37, n.6, pp. 671-676. ISSN 1684-1824.
Many doctors went to the battle fields to work in the mambises (denomination given in Cuba and Dominican Republic to people who fought against the Spanish colonial system in the 19 century) hospitals during the 1868 war. Dr. Miguel Bravo y Sentíes was one of the most remarkable figures of this feat. Captured and transferred to La Cabaña fortress in Havana, and later deported to Fernando Poo Island by the General Governor Domingo Dulce, he came back to Cuba in 1871 and gained the rank of Brigade General and the post of Chief of Health Services of the Second Corps of the Liberation Army.
