DIMITRI SANTOS CASTILLO, Iván y CAMEJO BARREIRO, Lorenzo E. Unpollution of water of the Izabal Lake in Guatemala throughout the Hydrilla verticillata Royle plant extraction and its use as alternative substrate for the production of chilli pepper plantulas in greenhouse. Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2010, vol.19, n.4, pp. 43-52. ISSN 2071-0054.
The main physical, chemical and biological properties of substrates elaborated with residuals of hydrilla verticillata and its effect on the germination and development during the phase of plántula of chili pepper seeds (irazú tropical variety improved) were characterized. When analyzing the obtained results such as easily profitable water, air capacity, PH, germination percent, accumulated germination (24 DDS), height of the plant (cm), diameter of the stem (cm), fresh weigh of the air part and radical system (g), dry matter of the aerial part and radical (%), all this 50 days after sowing (50 DDS), it is obtained that the best treatment under the conditions and methodologies used is the N° 12 (H30-85-15), that is, 85% hydrilla with 30 days of compost + 15 of little pearl and it is recommended as an alternative substitute of the commercial substrate (sphagnum turf) for the production of chili pepper plántulas in pylons and with it gives productive use to this polluted plant of the Guatemala lakes.
