Resumen
CACHO BECERRA, Zaida Violeta; SILVA BALAREZO, Mariana Geraldine y YENGLE RUIZ, Carlos. Developing social skills as a way of preventing and reducing risk behaviors in adolescents. trf [online]. 2019, vol.15, n.2, pp. 186-205. ISSN 2077-2955.
Objective:
The article aims at preventing and reducing risk behaviors by suggesting carrying out tutorial workshops on social skills.
Methods:
The researchers followed a quasi-experimental design, and conducted a survey using a questionnaire evaluated at the level of content, criteria and construction. The population gathered secondary students from first to fifth year; the sampling was non-probabilistic and intentional. The information collected (before and after tests) was subjected to descriptive statistical and inferential analysis to prove the hypothesis, using the T test.
Results:
The finding is a system of workshops on social skills (decision-making, control of emotions, self-esteem and assertiveness) used as a tool for preventing risk behaviors. This workshop pursues the participation of students in the transformation of their thinking and attitudes towards risk behaviors.
Conclusions:
the tutorial workshop of social skills contributes to a correct orientation of the adolescents, to the strengthening of their thoughts and positive behaviors, produces positive changes in the risk behaviors in the adolescents, and favors their prevention.
