Objective:
The paper aims at communicating a theoretical construction based on a contextualized approach of the teaching of Cuban history to engineer students that favors learners’ motivation.
Methods:
The authors rely on theoretical methods such as analysis and synthesis, historical and descriptive procedures and the document analysis from the perspective of systemic-structural and functional approach. Likewise, they use assessing scales, surveys, observation and the Motivated Strategies Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ).
Results:
The main finding is the description of a didactic model oriented to contextualizing the teaching of Cuban history to engineer students that favors learners’ motivation.
Conclusion:
Engineer students drives and motives to study history may be favored by devising a model focus on the study of local historical events, the history, means and resources of the profession through time on the grounds of strategies tailored to meet individual professional needs.
