Nowadays there is an increasing movement in these institutions, both in the international and national scope, in order to raise the quality of all the processes that take place in them. The systems of evaluation and institutional accreditation, which are developed independently of the different contexts, are directed to a large extent to the social relevance, to the quality of the university management, to the development of its substantive processes and in general to the culture of the quality in the mentioned institutions from their social order. Although economic financial management is not part of the substantive activities, it has a direct implication in the requirements to achieve the excellence of this activities. The present article constitutes the results of an investigation; the objective of the study was to design a model for the self-evaluation of the economic and financial management that has an impact on the quality of the university substantive processes, based on strategic, systemic and integrated approaches.
