LOPEZ-TOBAR, Rolando  y  SOLORZANO-CONSTANTINE, Luis. Analysis of the mechanical transformation and commercialization of wood in the Canton Pichincha, Manabí, 2018. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2019, vol.11, n.5, pp. 116-123.  Epub 02-Dic-2019. ISSN 2218-3620.

The research project aimed to investigate the different aspects related to the mechanical transformation and commercialization of wood in the Pichincha canton, where surveys were carried out in 7 establishments differentiating them according to their categories, volume of purchase and sale of wood, origin and consumption of wood among others. The most used machinery within the establishments is the circular saw; regarding forest species. It was able to determine that Schizolobium parahyba, Samanea saman, Tectona grandis, Roseodendron donnell-smithii, Cordia alliodora; Ochroma pyramidale, Triplaris cumingiana, are the most commercialized. There were 4 carpentry / furniture, 2 mixed and one deposit, with rural areas providing the most wood (57.14%) of the total number of establishments, considering environmental aspects as important. As the establishments do not have permits to commercialize wood, they obtain their raw material directly from the property owner, who extract the wood from their territories and in smaller quantities to be able to satisfy their economic needs taking into account that this activity is not the main one in order to obtain economic benefits. The main buyers are the final consumers since it is handled by orders transforming the raw material into products adding an added value and the total monthly volume was 92.89 in purchase and 33.37 in sale.

Palabras clave : Establishments; forest industries; wood volume; forestry machinery.
