Cardiac arrhythmias are one of the most frequent complications in the immediate postoperative period of cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass, of patients undergoing this therapeutic intervention. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to analyze the complications presented during the immediate postoperative period of cardiovascular surgery in the intensive care unit. A descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional and quantitative study was carried out. The sample design was random of probabilistic type obtaining 71 patients. Among other results; use of cardiopulmonary bypass (CEC) with Si; 54.9% (39), No; 45.1% (32). Intraoperative complications; 60.6% (43). Postoperative complications; low cardiac output syndrome (SBGC) required support with transient inotropic or balloon counter pulsation. Within conclusive aspects, the postoperative complications stand out, we can say that it is common for myocardial function to deteriorate during the hours following surgery, returning to its previous state in about 24 hours, this is caused by ischemia-reperfusion damage and use of cardioplegic solutions and the type of surgical procedure.
