GEORGE REYES, Carlos Enrique. Standardized tests and quality of education in Mexico, sexennium 2012-2018. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.4, pp. 418-425. Epub 02-Ago-2020. ISSN 2218-3620.
This article analyzes the link between the idea of achieving the quality of education with the application of standardized tests, to achieve this, the orientations on the subject by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Educational Organization were analyzed. Cultura, an organization that has revealed its capacity to influence the design of the educational policies of the States, analyzed in the Mexican context the National Policy for the Evaluation of Education proposed by the National Institute for the Evaluation of Education during 2012-2018. The results indicate that there are more doubts than answers regarding the subject, since the following question remains open: What are the purposes of the intention to state that education quality can be raised by applying standardized tests? In the conclusions it is emphasized that the concept of quality linked by the measurement of results in standardized tests is skewing the understanding of the educational quality towards the determinism of a number or a categorization, especially if the heterogeneities of the educational contexts are not previously considered, the particular needs of school settings and the capacities of educational institutions.
