VELARDE PENA, Leticia; AMADOR ORTIZ, Carlos Miguel y ANAYA GONZALEZ, Rebeca. The need for employment of university students of computer systems engineering. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.1, pp. 35-42. Epub 03-Feb-2021. ISSN 2218-3620.
The study presents an analysis of the student population that requires employment for their permanence at the José Mario Molina Pasquel y Henríquez Campus Puerto Vallarta Technical Institute. The research question was which student population of the Computer Systems Engineering program requires employment to cover the expenses related to their higher-education studies. The methodology used in this study employs a mixed, descriptive, retrospective approach with a deductive method; the advantages of technology are used to obtain the required information. The survey technique is used through a web application. The sample consists of the students of Computer Systems Engineering during the period February to July 2019. The most relevant results of this study show that a significant population of students require employment to cover the cost of their studies (two thirds of the sample), not all of whom were working. Based on these data, it is considered relevant to set forth strategies that support students and reduce the risk of dropout due to economic factors.
