The essay shows some worries linked to the utility of the knowledge produced by the social sciences about the rural development. It is a text that re-builds a reality examined in the scientific investigations, based on reflexiveness and also, produce a personal interpretation for the diagnosis and evaluation of public policies. This is a central element of analysis, because it allows unveiling contradictions in the public management and contributes to the development of a relevant space for his role in the production of foodstuff, in the conservation of the biodiversity and fighting the climatic change. The rural development is a particular goal of the general development, for that reason is pertinent to approach it from a critical and sociological perspective, focuses on multiple social actors' interactions. This particularity can constitute a slant of the reflexive contents, but start a way for the analysis and proposals; it is open to new readings and can delve deeply into the results of PhD investigation about the field of rural social studies in Cuba.
