RODRIGUEZ RUIZ, Ana Elena; CACERES MESA, Maritza Librada y MORENO TAPIA, Javier. Diagnosis of scientific literacy promoted in public high school students in Mexico. A case study. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.1, pp. 212-220. Epub 10-Feb-2022. ISSN 2218-3620.
In this work an investigation is presented, which combines a mixed methodology of three instruments, with the aim of investigating the scientific literacy that is being promoted in third grade students at this level; First, a content analysis was carried out on the aforementioned Program, later the Student Understanding of Science and Scientific Inquiry (SUSSI) questionnaire was applied to science students and teachers, and finally a semi-structured interview was carried out with the teachers. The results that emerge from the analysis of the theoretical-methodological triangulation show a teaching and therefore learning of the students limited to the theoretical dimension of scientific literacy, and neglecting the second dimension, which is the nature of science. From the results, in the subjects a traditionalist vision persists and far from the reality of what science involves in society and its relationship with the current world; That is why the long road that remains to be traveled must be highlighted so that knowledge related to the nature of science is achieved, and that together with a good theoretical knowledge leads to achieving scientific literacy.
