In recent years, social networks have increased in popularity, especially among the youngest, as there is a need for them to connect with other people who share similar interests. However, the need to constantly stay online can cause symptoms and consequences that would affect your personal well-being and performance. Therefore, the objective of this research was to determine if there is a significant relationship between addiction to social networks and academic procrastination in fifth grade high school students from 4 Peruvian public educational institutions. The approach addressed was quantitative, the design was non-experimental and the type was descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional. The sample was made up of 233 students, who responded to the Social Networks Addiction Questionnaire and the Academic Procrastination Scale, instruments with adequate psychometric properties. According to the results, the students were characterized by having low levels of addiction to social networks and moderate levels of academic procrastination. Likewise, it was found that the Spearman's Rho correlation coefficient between both variables was 0.429 and the p-value was below the significance level (p<0.05). It was concluded that there is a significant relationship between addiction to social networks and academic procrastination in fifth grade high school students from 4 Peruvian public educational institutions. Therefore, it was necessary for educational institutions to manage the participation of professionals to detect and develop psychoeducational programs that allow students who compulsively use social networks to be treated.
