Resumen

SANCHEZ SUAREZ, Yasniel; LORENTE LEYVA, Leandro L.; DIEGUEZ MATELLAN, Evis Lizett  y  NOGUEIRA RIVERA, Dianelys. Flow coordinator: role in trajectory management coronavirus patients. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2023, vol.15, n.4, pp. 620-630.  Epub 12-Ago-2023. ISSN 2218-3620.

The use of flow coordinators to support the management in healthcare areas is particularly relevant in the global context marked by the pandemic. They are also emerging as a main element in hospital reconversion models in order to increase the quality of care. The objective of this research is to analyze the role of flow coordinators in the management of trajectories of patients with coronavirus in Cuba. A methodology consisting of three steps is proposed: analysis of patient flow indicators, constitution of patient flow coordinators with Covid-19 and impact analysis. Among the main results, the main patient trajectories and information flow from the primary health level to hospitals of higher complexity are identified, the actors are identified and the responsibilities of the flow coordinators are assigned. From the impact analysis, a reduction in each care cycle of 1.04 day was obtained, with an optimization of the efficiency of waiting and stay times by an average of 72.62%. The use of flow coordinators allows the optimization of patient trajectory in health institutions.
