CRISTO, Elizabeth et al. Effect of low water supplies on agronomical and industrial behaviourof new rice (Oryza sativa L.) Genotypes obtainedby different improvement methods. cultrop [online]. 2012, vol.33, n.1, pp. 50-56. ISSN 0258-5936.
At Los Palacios Rice Research station, belonging to the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences, during poorly rainy (cold), 2006 and rainy (spring), 2007seasons, the behavior of genotypes of rice was studied obtained by means of somatic cultivation of, as well as, a group of mutants and crosse under conditions of low supplies of water: The genotypes 8476, 8479, 8480 (obtained through somatic culture), 8551, 8552, 8553, 5454 and 8555, (Mutations), Amistad - 82 , Reforma varieties, (Crossing) and the commercial “J - 104 ” as a check variety. To cause the conditions of low supplies of water, the following handling was used: The water lamina of settled down to the 15 days of having germinated the rice, suspending the entrance of water to the 35 days after having germinated (DDG); recovering it again in the primordium change until after 50 flowering %. At harvest time, the final plant height, cycle, agricultural yield (t. ha -1 ) and its components were evaluated, also, the industrial yield (% of whole grains), as well as resistance to lodging, shattering, Pyricularia grisea, Sarocladium oryzae, Steneotarxonemus spinki, Borér smiley and grain discoloration. It was determined that 8554 genotypes and that Reforma varieties, showed excellent behavior as for the agricultural and industrial yield, as well as to the main disease that affect economically to this cultivation, like it is the case of the grain, discoloration.
