Resumen

NUNEZ VAZQUEZ, Miriam; REYES GUERRERO, Yanelis; ROSABAL AYAN, Lissy  y  MARTINEZ GONZALEZ, Lisbel. Spirostane analogs of brassinosteroids and their use potentialities in agriculture. cultrop [online]. 2014, vol.35, n.2, pp. 34-42. ISSN 0258-5936.

Brassinosteroids are natural compounds which have a strong biological activity and have been used as yield stimulators in agriculture. However, since 80´s decade endings of last century, searching of analogs of these compounds whose synthesis is more economic and that have a long lasting activity under field conditions has been working. In Cuba, some spirostanic analogs of brassinosteroids which have a biological activity like natural brassinosteroids and give very good results as crop yield and growth stimulators have been synthesized. In this paper, information about the activity of some of these analogs and its influence on germination, rooting, growth, yield and quality of some economically important crop is analyzed and discussed. Results about the use of these analogs as growth regulators in the plant micropropagation are, also, presented.

Palabras clave : brassinosteroids; growth; yield; plant micropropagation.
