Objective: to identify the learning requirements in a group of professors teaching Psychology I and Psychology II in the Bachelor of Nursing studies. Methods: individual interviews and focal group techniques were applied to 25 professors who teach Psychology I and Psychology II in the Bachelor of Nursing studies. They were included in the study group depending on their suitability according to the exploratory aims of this paper. Results: most of the subjects stated their specific learning requirements in those topics mostly addressed in a deep and systematic way within the new psychology curriculum for the Bachelor of Nursing studies. Additionally, they suggested that postgraduate activities should be carried out in order to increase the quality of teaching of psychology in this career. Conclusions: specific learning requirements were identified in the group of participants. This embraced highly complex topics like psychological stress, the personality as a regulator of health behavior, the stages of psychological development and the determining psychosocial factors in the health-disease process. The implementation of a diploma's course as an ideal postgraduate activity was suggested in order to solve these problems as quickly as possible.
